What would have been Jack Reacher's ideal EDC?

He wouldn’t carry any weapon. It’s not his goal to fight, he just does what he needs to protect those who are being oppressed or taken advantage of. He’s smart and an expert hand to hand fighter.

But he'll use any weapons that come to hand, as needed , and with expertise more akin to special forces than retired MP .

He’s an interesting character. He carries a toothbrush and, these days I believe, an ATM card. He has a pair of leather boots, with leather soles, that he has repaired/resoled as needed. All his clothes get replaced with new when they get dirty. He may carry a weapon if he feels it’s needed during the story, but it always gets ditched when he moves on at the end of the book.

I feel like he'd carry the easiest to replace knife he could find. Probably random folders or fixed blades from thrift and surplus stores. If he was actually looking for a knife, I think his preference would be benchmade.

I’m part way through the series. He’s carrying a knife he picked up from a bad guy and is temporarily carrying a pistol.

He's basically a ninja, so he uses whatever works. He did pretty well with that Kabar. Might have done better with a serrated blade when cutting through the roof of the truck -- maybe that folder was just dull, though.

I know this is a thread necro, but given that the new show just dropped, it makes sense. I have to say I'm in agreement with others who've said that if Reacher just needed a knife,he'd take it off somebody, which is exactly what he did, if I recall correctly in the new show. But man, I really enjoyed it for what it was, all things considered!

I think Jack Reacher, in a way, might have a better gig than James Bond. If Reacher gets one of his many women pregnant, good luck finding him for child support.
