What would you do?

Most likely buy a 200 dollar fixed blade that I’ll end up never using.
Same here.... never or seldom. Certainly doesn't "justify" such a purchase for me, but want wins out in most cases. I have enough folders for now. The Benchmade Ultra Presidio II looks pretty appealing to me. I have the Mini Presidio II and really like it.

If you don t mind dlc coated blades, consider getting a Recon 1 spearpoint as an alternative to the Military, and an American Lawman as an alternative to the PM2. Very sturdy knives with good fit and finish, good materials, and surprisingly good ergonomics. Shop the online deals and you ll come in below 200 for them both.

I bet most of the folks on this message board don’t necessarily need most or any of the knives they own. Most of my knife purchases would be viewed as a waste of money by most people. I rarely use the knives I already own and yet I want to buy more.
To some it’s simply a hobby just like collecting baseball cards, comic books, old cars, etc. If I only bought the knives I needed, I would have stopped with a cheap hardware store box cutter with disposable blades.

I don’t have a lot of experience with Cold Steel but was very impressed with the Finn Wolf. I bet the higher end knives are very well made.

There have been three folders that have come up time and time again for me:

First is the CRK small Insingo. My goal was to get that when I started drawing a retirement at age sixty. I am now sixty and not yet retired. Not getting the knife until I stop working.

Second is the Spyderco D'Allara 3. Picked that up earlier this month.:)

Third is Lion Steel's TM 1 in G-10. My goal was this or the D'Allara. One or the other.

So, I guess the Lion Steel is what I would pick up if I had an extra $200 in cash.

A Civivi Baklash or Praxis for a work knife and a Massdrop Ferrum Forge Falcon for dress=$167.00. My Falcon is a fantastic knife.

That Massdrop Keen is a nice one. I’ll do a little more research on it. Thanks
If you research the Laconic Keen look no further than here..... https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/massdrop-laconico-keen.1622273/page-19#post-18607563.

Kept looking at the Keen drop and just didn't pull the trigger; seemed too much like my Gemini. Now I sure would like a plain bronze one; next drop.

Ahhhhh, does my fairy godmother bless me with a prince before or after my new blade purchase :p. Depends on what you’re looking for brothaman. $200 is a lot and a little in the world of knives. So......6 kershaws.....or 1 spydie???!

One good one since you’ve been at it for a while. Get one of the classics. 940, PM2 sprint, etc.
The new Massdrop Keen is pushing the right buttons for a lot of folks at the moment also.
I am carrying, and enjoying my MassDrop Keen Laconico at this time...great knife, $150. and then pick up a Steel Will Modus for $50 and you're all set.
This sounds pretty pro-Chinese, but both are good knives, in my estimation.
Of course, there are tons of good American-made knives also, but these are my first examples of Chinese knives that I've admired.

My massdrop buc is one of the best knices I own

I really like carrying and using my D'Allara 3. The lock can be challenging but is also interesting and cool looking. I love the blade.
I've used mIne very little. The jury is still out on this knife.

I'm not warming up to it like I thought I would. Then again, in general, Spyderco is not my favorite brand. I've always been kind of on the fence about their products.

In a similar dilemma, my choice would be a Benchmade Bugout, 2 Victorinox Swiss army knives, and Mora.
Or you could swap in a really good Cold Steel or Spyderco knife for the Bugout.
OR cut out one of the SAKs and Mora and replace with a KaBar fixed blade.
OR!....

Good luck in your decision!

I just went through the same situation. Ended up with a Massdrop Ferrum Forge Gent in CF and an Olight I3E EOS copper. Which left me cash for other stuff.

I’d either throw in anothe $28 (to the $200) and get a Yojimbo2 20CV/CF or save up another $350 and get a Large Inkosi w/ inlays.
