This post is meant to be amusing, and maybe an insperation to the Buck employes;

Which knives would you like buck to make??
type, steel, purpose, diffrent materials etc.

personally I would like to see a buck knife along the lines with the fallkniven A1 or CS SRK, only it should be made i 420HC due to cost and have a cordura sheath with kydex on the inside. And a pocket on the outside for a multitool (like the sheaths from eagle industries).

NB! I do already own several knives from buck and other companies(SOG, Fällkniven etc...), and from my experience 420HC compares well even to high end steels as VG10 and AUS6.

furthermore I think this type of knife would give the other comapnies a run for their money :D.

My personal dream would be an expanded line of 501's including some of the options mentioned above. The bonded stone handles would be really cool.
guy:)

A stockman or Trapper slipjoint with jigged bone or stag handles, and of course, non SS blades.

I am going to have to go with an old favorite here.

Buck 112 with titanium handles, BG-42 blade, thumb stud, pocket clip

Or is that already in the works Joe?;)

As Joe and I have previously discussed, I would vote for Buck to begin to offer at least their standard fixed blade line (100 series) and the 110 and 112 with an upgraded steel and no other frills. I think Buck could make a nice gross profit and see sales do very well.
The steel could be ats-34 or bg-42(my preference). C.J. are you monitoring this thread?

Buck 110 and 112 with Ti handles, BG-42 blade, thumb disc, pocket clip.

Nighthawk in ATS-34/154CM or BG-42 (S30V ?)

Larger Solution, as stated above or even bigger :D

A series of 503 folders with BG-42 blades and one with a red micarta handle, one with blue, and one with white. And one with a flag pattern on the scales.

I would love to see the classic buck 110 folder about half the thickness of the handle and bolsters.:D

100 series fixed blades with BG-42 steel blade. Guard and butt should be made of a harder material than aluminum, and the phenolic resin replaced by G-10.
And please make it available in Germany!

The 100 series are great knives as they´re now, though.

I would have to say a 112 with:
1. Carbonfiber with stainless liners for the handle (like the odyssey II.)
2. Finger grooves.
3. D2 or BG-42 non-serrated blade with no nail notch.

Interesting Idea.......
Hmmmmm let's see now......

I'd have to say that Buck should improve the main body
of their product line as suggested, i.e. 110 ,112, straight blades
and such. I'm sorry to say that most of the "new" knives Buck has,
and is, offering now are all misses in the market from my point of view.

Buck has a very well deserved place in the knife world for making knives
that ALWAYS work as advertized. Solid , dependable common sense knives.
From what I've seen of late their markenting depatment is running real hard
to catch up with the wrong knife crowd. Some of the best business advice
I ever heard was not to forget what & who your market was.

Sure a company has to grow and change to prosper and survive. Just do
what you do better than anybody else. With the 110 in your stable then
offshoots and improvments will offer more to those just now discovering
that all the hype about tatical is just that ........hype. Buy a Buck and you
bought a good knife.

This is a really interesting thread so far. I hope the ideas keep coming.

The crux I am seeing here is classic, dependable designs with high carbon steels. If I was going to put this information into the format of our categories (hunting/fishing-outdoors-tactical and everyday carry) I would say I am hearing requests for high tech/high performance everyday carry knives as the direction of choice.

High Performance Everyday Carry is our R and D product focus right now and I have seen some pretty cool drawings. We are in the process of turning these into prototypes right now.

We will keep monitoring this thread if any additional input comes in.

Well, to keep harping on some ideas that have been bandied around here before...

112 in Pete's custom shop might solve a lot of requests.

Especially with more modern materials/designs. I like the traditional shape and handling, but... like parchment paper micarta or green micarta, yes?

However, I'm thinking... to be really heretical..a nice, elegant clip on the backside, tip-down carry. Or a ClipCase in the William Henry style.

This is because I only have my rear-left pocket dedicated to knives, and I don't particularly want to have my knife jangling around in there.

CJ, Hi Performance EDC is what Buck has always done the
best. Just don't get to far out in wierd land and keep them
all rock sold simple and dependable.

I suppose if I were to sum up Buck knives it would be that.....
"Rock solid and depandable offering outstanding value"

That statement would apply to everything in Buck's main lineup
from the 300 series pocket knives to the stable of older fixed blades.
I sold knives for a bit and the fellas I delt with weren't a bit interested
in any of the new style Buck knives at all. Now let me offer a "regular"
Buck knife that has been in the line for a while .........wow! I could sell
all had in minutes sometimes. That kinda' tells me how people view
Buck knives........Simple , always dependable, friendly.

Not a bad reputation to have in my book.

How about handle upgrades for the buck/strider 880's ? Maybe stag, bone, micarta ? Or how about dual thumb studs ,and a deepride clip ? Pete's custom shop could offer upgrade kits . I know the SB 880's are hard use knives , but most of us don't use them that hard , we are just armchair mountainmen/warriors .

I would like to see Buck make a heavy duty (about 11inches) bowie.
Perhaps the steel could be AUS 8 and the handle should be cocobolo or some other hardwood.

Of course, it will have to be full tang. It should have a balance that will add value to its design.

To top it all, it must be so affordable, the competition will be bowled over.

The winning design, coupled with superior blade material and excellent design will hold all its rivals at bay for at least a couple of years.

It's handle should have a Buck crest and its durability tested to the extreme.

Don't forget, it has to be down-to-earth affordable. If it can be done to these specs, there is no way the Buck bowie can be stopped from moving to its well deserved No. 1 position.

I have been doing some picture-manipulation to show what I would like buck to make. The picture is not very good, but it will have to do:
