... non knife anthusiast equiped with just an ordinary Swiss Army Knives...

you know its an oldschool design multifunction slipjoint,no open assist, no supersteel blade, non selfdefense weapon, no fancy apperiance and so on... and some of you blade addict would pocket some high dollar custom or supersteel and super cool tactical knives...

so when you see it in use, what would cross your mind or what would you say to them?

-nice knife?
-dude, you should upgrade your knife to blablabla...bla.. ( x brand)
-its kindda cool and i used to like it before becoming knife addict...
-thank God i'm not stuck with SAKs!

please dont get me wrong, i just curious with your honest opinion, no trooling or cousing some debates from me...

thanks for your inputs guys... have a great day...

I probably wouldn't say a thing, but often wish I could go back to just being happy with a SAK:o Sure would be cheaper...

idk about anyone else, i've got my $150 folders, but i just ordered myself a sak, 125th anniversary climber. i find it very attractive to be honest, and far more practical in a work setting than the 53 or the 940

I wouldn't say anything either. I'd feel I was dealing with a smart person that realizes that tools make their life easier and they only need that SAK.

When my son turned 10, we had a birthday party for him at an arcade type place and one of the games they were going to play around the birthday table required small teams of the invited kids to put together a model. One of the boys took out a small SAK to cut open the box and the parts. I said to him, "that's a neat knife you got". I was so impressed to see a boy that young carry a SAK. I ended up getting my son an Alox Cadet sometime after that. They are great tools and I certainly would not say anything derogatory about one.

I always think to myself that it is a great start to a collection. My first knives were shitty knock-off SAKs and I soon moved to them myself and higher end soon after.

yea i probably wouldnt say anything they still work great. An old SAK to me is someone who wants a decent little knife that they plan on using. The only knives i would think they should really upgrade are like cheapo swap meet knives that look kind of like better brands but are made out of garbage steel and poorly constructed.

Anyone using a SAK IS a knife enthusiast, in my opinion.

Just like 666 said, they are someone who understands that a knife is a tool.

Someone who doesn't understand that?

Not an enthusiast, in my book.

My four year old daughter can use the tools in a SAK ... she cuts out paper dolls with the scissors and removes screws and opens packages .......

I won a Swiss about 20 years ago and the price on it back then was around $50. I tried to like it, but ended up just keeping it in the truck. The saw blade worked pretty good but the other "tools" and "blades" were really poor quality and all but impossible to use.

I wouldn't say anything to them but if they were a friend I find a reason to give them a good knife and/or multi-tool.

You are saying a SAK is not a good knife?!? I think many would strongly disagree.

I am glad to see someone using a knife. No comments as i don´t like comments on my knife too.

Man, I am so thankful we do not have to use real names on here. I hate to admit it, but I still have my first "Boy Scout" knife (Boy Scout/Camping/SAK/etc.) from waaaaay back in the day (late 50's,early 60's). Really a mess, one of the blades can't be opened, other blade really pitted, etc. My son keeps asking me why I keep it, & I think the reason is I can almost remember every twig, tent rope, fishing line, bottle cap, roasting stick, initials, mumbly peg game, etc. I ever used it for. I guess some things are meant to be kept.

I can't let it go .... that's a wild thing to say!:D

My latest is a SwissBianco Victorinox Bushcrafter with hard anodizing.

The blade cuts like a laser, the saw flies through limbs and makes some nice notches.

... oh and the awl does a good job on the finger nails too!

SAKs' have always held a good edge for me.

... but to each their own ....... I can't put this thing down and can hardly tell it's in my pocket.

. . . and to answer the question what would I say . . . I would tell them "That is a very useful knife they have", & then think of the things in my previous post.

I wish that I had my first knife.

Perhaps if you'd met some real crappy knives, you'd think of SAK as being pretty good, like imho, alot of people here have/do.
I think of my relationship with knives as a fairly innocuous addiction. I wouldn't wish it on anyone else's pocket, and if everyone was doing it, it would not be as much fun!
