What would you Think or Say when you see...

Just like seeing a guy with a big bowie knife on his hip, I'm thinking "either he's clueless or he knows exactly what he's doing".

I wouldn't say anything. Unless said individual came up to me and told me that I shouldn't be carrying anything other than a small SAK.

Wow! Lot of Vic Alox Farmer owners in this thread!

I'm one of them. :D

I've had a Farmer and a Soldier for a long time and carried them on and off.

I had them stashed in my pack and recently pulled them out when I got the +B.

I'm blown away at how good they take and hold an edge.

Good stuff and the saw works good also.

I love farmer and soldier alox... they're very2 solidly build, very handsome, tough, keep a good edge, reliable, pretty affordable... and very pocket friendly, not to mention its sheple friendly looking slipjoint...

got plenty of those. very2 addicting!

I probably wouldn't say anything, but I'd feel for the Alox Pioneer in my pocket and think, "Damn, they've got good taste in knives!" :D

I've tried to sample a wide variety of different knives since I got bit by the knife bug, and I still love using SAKs.

If the person had a genuine SAK (as opposed to a crappy imitation) I would compliment him on his excellent choice of a knife. SAKs represent one of the best values in knives in terms of performance and especially quality for the money.

I did fine with slipjoints, including SAKs, for almost 30 years before I bought my first "modern" folder with 1-hand opening and a pocket clip in the 90s. If I'm honest with myself, I'd have to say that I buy more expensive knives with better steel, etc. because I'm a knife enthusiast, not because I actually need them. I could probably get by with EDCing only a SAK.

I have an Alox Cadet in pocket as I write.

I agree with your opinion... and knowing you pocket a SAK makes your point more valid hehehe... good choice buddy.

-nice knife?
-dude, you should upgrade your knife to blablabla...bla.. ( x brand)
-its kindda cool and i used to like it before becoming knife addict...
-thank God i'm not stuck with SAKs!

These are the only options? Why so negative? SAKs are awesome! FYI -- you don't need super-high-end-customs-s30v-$500 knives to be a knife enthusiast.

I'd say "Bitchin' SAK, can I see it? Check mine out!"

I think Iyonk is a SAK fan too. Maybe those are things that have been said to him before.

I would probably say they had a nice knife there and ask to see it. If it was a junk knife (fake chinese made SAK had one of those before a real one) or some poorly constructed $5 gas station knife I would probably show them mine and let them handle it then recommend them a different knife next time they get one (Tenacious, byrd, BM Vex or Monochrome, kershaw OD-1 or skyline)

Wouldn't say anything regarless of what he was carrying. None of my business, just like when I use a knife.

I would just say "Nice SAK" assuming they are using it for one of its intended functions, ie cutting and not trying to pry with the blade. No reason to look down on someone or make any non-positive comment if they are using a tool that does what they need it to do.

Btw, how do you know the person is a NKP? A SAK would probably handle most cutting jobs a person would need and it can have additional tools that can be useful. They also have less of a chance of being hassled by anyone.

The Original Poster is pro-SAK. I think he believes some knife enthusiasts--I guess they'd be knife snobs, would react negatively.

Yeah, I don't see why he'd care. Carry what you like is my take. But if you want to carry a POS SAK then then more power to ya. How's that?

i'd probably be thinking something along the lines of: "it's nice to see someone with a versatile down-to-earth pocketknife who isn't buying into the usual overweight, over-sized, overwrought 'tactical' trend in the hope that a big black ugly aggressive vanity knife will make them look 'hardcore' rather than juvenile and insecure."

but i'd probably just keep my mouth shut. :p

rotfl!

I have lots of nice folders, and a couple higher quality multitools, but honestly around the house I find myself using my Victorinox Swisschamp more than any of them. Just very friendly and easy to use for most smaller size jobs.

I love my Vic Spartan. My dad gave it to me for my 10th birthday and I've been using it ever since! Great little knife. I usually keep the smaller of the blades razor sharp and the larger one with more of a working edge.
Also have a Vic soldier with the one hand opening blade that I take with me when I go camping which I also love.

A SAK and a Sebenza live side by side in my pocket.
Why hasn't Obama put a stop to anti-SAK hate?:(

I Hope you Change your opinion on SAK's.
