What would you Think or Say when you see...

You may not think you are trolling, but you are. I don't walk around acting like I am superior to others because I carry a knife, or because my knife is "better". I would say - nice knife if anything, assuming I would want to start a converstation about it.

That one looks like a much higher quality knife than the one I had. Mine had those thin cheap blades that were chrome plated.

That probably wasn't a Victorinx or Wenger then .... therefore not Swiss and doesn't represent SAKs' as a whole.

Get a real VIC Farmer and try it out .... if you don't like it I'll buy it from you!

I'd probably say, "Hey, I got one of those in my pocket."

High end super steel knives are for collectors, people who can't or won't sharpen their own knives, and for those who want to be tacticool IMO. My Farmer does all the cutting jobs I need in my life. The only reason I have other knives is because I like them, not because I need them.

I don't know, but I sure as hell know I am not going to tell another dude "Hey man, nice sak..." If they get by just fine with it then that is fine... After all a knife is only a short piece of metal designed to slice... and if it does what he wants then I will save him the grief of pointing him to this forum and save him from spending all the little greenies he has.

I'd probably be thinking something along the lines of: "It's nice to see someone with a versatile down-to-earth pocketknife who isn't buying into the usual overweight, over-sized, overwrought 'tactical' trend in the hope that a big black ugly aggressive vanity knife will make them look 'hardcore' rather than juvenile and insecure."

But I'd probably just keep my mouth shut. :p

Perhaps if you'd met some real crappy knives, you'd think of SAK as being pretty good, like imho, alot of people here have/do.
I think of my relationship with knives as a fairly innocuous addiction. I wouldn't wish it on anyone else's pocket, and if everyone was doing it, it would not be as much fun!

I've met and owned some really crappy knives....and I've met and owned some world class customs.

And, as a tool, a Vic SAK stands up to any of them. Holding a SAK's (or a Mora's, or a Opinel's) lack of tacticoolness against it to me isn't "knife enthusiast" thinking. Quite the opposite.

In my opinion.

I see a guy using a SAK and I see another guy flashing a Dark Ops around.....I know who the knife enthusiast is.

Nicely put!

(Though I might have included the word "overcompensating" in there somewhere....)

I'd say "good piece of tool you have there, Im glad to see that some still carries and is prepared".

If well maintained with a sharp edge, he has a better cutting tool that most thick wide bladed knives. Plus he has other tools at his disposal all in one package. I would not consider him "under-knived" at all.

It is also why the better multi-tools on the market look more like other tool with the knife as more of an after thought. When a multi-tool is issued here it is not a Swiss. There is a reason.

I'm hearing a lot of good things about the Victorinox Spirit multi tool ... FWIW.

I would say (and have said), "Nice knife. Is that an actual Swiss Army Knife, or one of the knock-offs? Which model is it?"

Then, while we were discussing it, I would pull the Silver Alox Farmer Swiss Army Knife I carry out of my pocket, and show it to them. I probably wouldn't mention the Spyderco Salt 1 that's nearly always clipped to the same pocket that nearly always holds my SAK, unless they proved to be a real knife enthusiast, too.

I imagine we'd discuss how useful a good SAK can be, an what a great value they are. I'd make sure to work in a compliment on how important it is to always have a pocket knife handy, to help positively reinforce their EDCing of a knife.

I've got dozens (and dozens) of knives, and many (maybe most) of them are mid to higher end knives with exotic super steels. Doesn't mean that I don't still keep my SAK with me as part of my EDC setup, though. It may not be the first thing I grab when I just need a pure blade, but it does get plenty of use for everything else.

I honestly got no intention of trolling... but sorry if i write something wrong... could you tell me what's wrong with my post and which part considered to be trolling?

i'm lurking here just to learn since i love knives... i learn something from all the expert opinions... not intention to start something bad... and very sorry since english is not my first language, i might miss writing something...

and Guys, thanks alot for your comment and inputs, surely appreciate and i learn from all your knowledge and thought...

I'd think he/or she is a well prepared individual and that it's cool. I've owned and carried big name/big money folders for a very long time but always have a couple of SAKs in rotation and always have them in my bag, car, work desk, etc.

I have 59 folders many costing well north of $100.00. What do I always carry? A SAK Farmer Alox. I would tell the guy nice knife then wonder what he did with all the money he saved not buying expensive knives.
