What would you use this for...

How much??? Thats my question and my comment is....you should post how much! Nice blade Dan, really a cool user. Gene

what would that badboy cost from you?

and id use it for anything and everything

Oh, in the kitchen, absolutely everything that wasn't done better by a paring knife. In the field, for big game, this should be nice. I'd want to try it for a while before I commented on some of the rougher camp chores a knife might be abused for, but it looks ready for some testing.

Its the sort of blade I would expect a butcher to use. I think it would excel at that role.

That's beautiful Daniel! With G-10 or Micarta slabs and a choil in the forward handle, I think this would be my perfect camper. This definitely is the second blade I'd order, after the WSK. All in time.

The tip seems very sturdy and workable. With the thickness, the spine will be a good tool as well. Thanks for sharing.

This is definitely a chopper! It looks good too! The blade geometry appears to be such that this knife could probably have such an acute edge that could also take over slicing tasks successfully as well. It also looks as if it won't wedge while chopping either.

What would you charge for something like this?

A powerful tool in an unassuming package. Nessmuk meets WSK meets cleaver. It can chop, carve, smash, split (baton), and slice. Its the WesSmuK, or the WSKostermuk! I can envision a 5"-6", 3/16", 2.25" tall at the hump companion to the one above; same design.

Very nice work!

Awesome Dan. Do me one in Lacewood and its sold.

I am with the crowd- it would replace my WSK and be a fine companion to my Karda... I like it! :)

Good design Dan! It looks capable of doing everything from skinning, slicing to chopping. I could see that knife used to do it all from bringing down the hog to skinning it out, and then onto work in the kitchen and on to the BBQ.

Its weak point would be, it looks awkward for small tasks like whittling, eating dinner and whatnot. So what, I like to pair a big knife with a small one. I think that would be the bee's knees with a small patch-knife type piggybacked on its sheath.

Its strength would be... strength! A chunk of 5160 that burly should be pretty darn durable.

It's different from what we normally see, that's a good thing.

Superb craftsmanship there:thumbup:

Born to chop, maybe even a be-heading or two:D

Actually looks a bit TOO GOOD to abuse but an enviable knife-work,congratulations!

Thanks for the tremendous response, guys!

I didn't intend this as a sales thread...but what the heck...anybody interested...shoot me a PM or email. I'm putting together a batch of 10 or so...to be done after the Blade Show. If you want a specific handle material - make your request now.

To sum up...it seems the strength in this design lies in heavy camp use - chopping and large game prep. It is indeed quite beefy and probably unbreakable (being edge-quenched).

This is one of those designs that has been begging me to make it for some time.

Thanks for all the great comments!
