Whatcha got on order? (Traditional Knives Only)

Yesterday I got a pm out of the blue and a fellow member had a '14 forum knife for me to consider. Now I am very stag picky(why I did not get one in the first place) and I prefer it to be thin. After seeing this pic I knew I had to have it :D. Thanks again Josh

I've got a pair of the new 48s in ebony coming... one trapper, one jack.

I think they'll make a handsome couple. :)

Wish I could afford one of those stags as well, but I'm just a sucker for ebony.

The finer handle materials (or is it just their relative price? ;)) somewhat belie the straightforward rusticity that is the primary appeal of Opinel knives (to me), but then, the woods are fine. I am grateful for my Olivewood No. 6.
I just don't like the feel of Opinel's Beechwood. I wish I did, I could save some money LoL. The Beechwood is just too light and feels different from the other hard woods. I like the Walnut handles "weight" and feel, and pretty sure the Brazilian Rosewood will be okay because it is similar to Bubinga. I haven't tried Olivewood yet, but understand that as far as Opinel knife handles go, Olivewood is some of the best.

I have an olive slim #8. The wood is dense, oily, and hard. One of my favorite choices for a knife handle and criminally under-utilized.

The extra large Zermatt sheath Victorinox sells is a must!
Fits 1-1/2" belt easily

Upon seeing this photo i went straight on the Bay and found the same pouch at a good price, i already keep my Swiss Champ in the basic black pouch with velcro fastener, ugh hence i never carry it, when my new Zermatt arrives i may start to carry it. Thank you..

Glad I could, "inadvertently" helped someone else carry their SwissChamp. Pocket carry is not recommended haha:thumbup:
A little tip, the sheath comes bone dry so oil it with obenaufs, neatsfoot oil, etc

Thanks again, i have some neatsfoot oil so when the pouch arrives i will make sure to work plenty into it.

Had to have one of these TCs! Antique yellow jigbone in sheepfoot single blade.
Should be coming within the next 2 weeks.

Nice Jeff! Post pic's when you get it. :)

Nice pair of 48's tstaut! Ebony makes for great handles.:thumbup:

Can't wait until these TC's arrive Perry. They are looking great! :D

Just got in a Schrade Old Timer Stockman with saw cut bone handles. Just like the old OTs. I know it's made in China, but it's very well made and does not say China anywhere on it. Still a fine knife like Schrade use to make.

Ya talked me into it ;)

In addition to the No.6 in Brazilian Rosewood, I now also have a No.6 in Olive wood on the way inbound AND one of those super uber cool Opinel Goatskin pocket slips coming too.

My apologies to the goats ... and to Olive Garden I guess ... but especially to the goats. Thank you

May be the best jigging ever. I love single blades. I love sheepfoot Barlows. That's going to be a great knife!

And if the bone's color is a little too light, you know what to do. 😉👍

Jeff, I predict you will be pleased. I think GEC's quality has been turned up a notch over the last 6 months or so. The combination of good materials with even better craftsmanship led to a great Blade Forums knife. I liked it so much, I bought another.

Now, all this talk about Opinels has got me thinking. A slim No. 8 with olive wood handle... Sounds great!

Thanks Doc, I am looking forward to it. Chris had his with him when we met and I really liked it, been on the hunt for a good one sense

I can certainly agree with Great Eastern hitting its stride, great times ahead for traditional knife fans :)
