Whatcha got on order? (Traditional Knives Only)

Recently, I acquired the books "Woodcraft" by Nessmuk and "Camping and Woodcraft" by Horace Kephart which I'm enjoying thoroughly. Of course now that I have them, I needed the knives described by these two fine woodsmen. Considering these two gentlemen were not monetarily wealthy, and they intended their tools to be used, I decided to order the Condor Nessmuk and the Condor Kephart. I've got a couple of Condor products already and have been pretty impressed with them being tough, well put together, sharp out of the box, and easy to keep that way.

Should be in this afternoon, in time for my 50th birthday tomorrow.

Happy birthday! The blade design of the Nessmuk really intrigues me. Let us know what you think once you've got a little time under your belt!

Peanut from Tracy Larock and after that I need to put the card down.

I'm already thinking about a barlow with spear point blade, about 3" blade, long pull, micarta bolsters probably, with swedge. Single or two blade, probably single. Not sure which maker to ask for that one.

Been thinking a lot lately about a fixed blade Zulu, and a two blade Zulu. Zulu pattern with a pen blade, wharncliff or coping might be redundant. Maybe even spey.

I got a SAK Tinker coming off the bay. It for my Daughter as she prepares to go to College in 8 weeks.

It came in yesterday and it was an advertising SAK that never was used so it should have been listed New old stock. It came nice and sharp.

Case 6.5 Bonestag Swayback Gent on order and due sometime in July.
A new run of CV steel for the single blade swaybacks. With the thicker handles I'm guessing this one is going to be
an instant winner.

Just ordered an "Old Hickory" 7" Butcher Knife. I'll have it by Wednesday. $9.97 (+ $3.99 Shipping). *sigh* Another $13.96 out the door. Oh well, it will be useful.

I've had over-active typing fingers this weekend, and have a few new additions on the way...

Two from Case, a punch stockman in yeller, and a harvest orange humpback stockman. Mr. Jack Black has also been a bad influence, and so an A.Wright & Son Lambfoot in ebony is on it's way across the Atlantic.

Something a little different....MAM 2038 Looked at these MAM knives for a while, just never pulled the trigger. Well now one is one the way!
Bruce

Update! So my MAM 2038 came in and I am not sure about it! My question is - Is the blade supposed to have no "detent" at all? I know it is technically a friction folder with a liner lock, but the blade basically falls open! To add to that, the tip barely goes into the handle, so it will very easily open . I don't see any kind of kick to file down, so I am not sure how to get it to sit lower in the handle.

If there are adjustments to be made I don't mind doing them, but out of the box this knife is not pocketable.
HUH

Case Copperlock & GEC Wharnie/WLST 25 from a member here. Another GEC Yote, Beagle & Pemberton & a S&W File & Wire 29 from 4 other places. 6 Knives in 2 days and I'm grounded from buying any knives.

I am lucky enough to have put an order in with one of the finest knifemakers alive(IMO), Tom Overeynder. Wharncliffe trapper in stag and CPM D2, Gold federal shield and pins. Tom's fit and finish is second to none. A HUGE congratulations to Tom on being voted into the AKI, a well deserved honor.

Just managed to grab a #74 GEC Orange Jigged bone by the hair of my chinny chin chin :D
Can't believe it.

Huh... I just saw these Pallares knives in another post on the forum and almost made an order myself! I probably even looked on the same auction site at the listing as you. You should give an update or review when you get em in.

The Fondling Knives arrived in today's mail. They are indeed a little rough around the edges. The handles still had a bit of molding flash in a couple of places.

The clip blade came pretty sharp, the leaf blade less so. I have not put any effort into sharpening them as yet.

I like the translucent handles. There are no liners. The leaf blade is pretty comfortable in hand. The sharply downturned tail of the handle on the clip makes it awkward to find a good grip. Of course, I have made similar observations about other knives, only to be told I an holding it wrong. That could be the case here as well.

That leaf-blade Pallares is actually rather pretty regardless of the F&F issues. I may have missed this answer earlier, but are the blades carbon or stainless?

Always so hard in this forum to stick to the plan not to buy any more knives until so-and-so... :o

I Just ordered a Rough Rider and a Colt Sowbelly. I wanted to compare them to each other and one of the Case Sowbellies I have.
