Whatcha got on order? (Traditional Knives Only)

Lucky you! That is a dream knife for me, just lovely.

Thank you :)

I had to sell some other stuff but it was worth it, a beautiful knife. I was hoping to get some pics but the storms are fierce and it's almost as dark as at sundown. I'll get some this weekend.

Thanks Jake, IIRC your pics introduced me to the Norfolk in the first place. My overall favorite patterns are double ended in some way, especially since I bought my Conductor. I"m sure you'll enjoy yours, it introduced me to a whole new world after SAKs and the couple Case I had.

... a small number (a 25, to be exact) in Horsecut Antique....

How'd that happen?!

Very nice, did you talk kai76 out of his?
25trioopen.jpg

Not a chance (that I'm aware of)! Through an interesting confluence, I actually happened upon an available one earlier today but wasn't sure what I was looking at. Then, upon seeing kai76's pictures?

*pounce*

... The funny (or maybe sad) thing is that I've been bookmarking 25s for a while now, reviewing what's still out there and almost pulling the trigger a few times. I'm still on the hunt for the right GEC (squirrel etch, acorn shield)-- and may have found what I want, but not to the point of following through-- as well as hoping whatever next run of 25s might have something I like more, and/or at least more stamped-bolster Northfield barlows. I daresay I was proud of my ongoing patience and restraint.

Then, along comes this one. The spear main, the stunning jigging, the absence of a shield (love that on the barlows), the long pull...? Sucker punch.

As stunning as the above picture is, it was this one, originally posted in the GEC "group shots" thread, that pushed me off the precipice:

(Of course, I love the first picture above too, for many reasons, including the well-used blade in contrast to the others....)

Not the usual fare served around here, but this one is traditional nonetheless.

I think I know exactly which one you got P! Post some pics when you receive it.

You likely do, as I haven't seen another before or since. The one I'm getting looks to have a bit more variegation in the handle than yours (some white near the bolster), but that's alright.

I'm sure I'll be posting pictures in the 25s thread, the long pull thread, and probably in the "What are you carrying today" thread when all is said and done. :)

However, my pictures won't be equal to yours. What camera did you use, under what conditions? Your pictures show off all your knives so well.

Kind of funny, how this knife wasn't even on my radar until the same day you posted pictures of yours. Then, Whammo!

I shall finish "Barlow Month" in style.

Thanks again! It's all in the timing....

Nice, glad you managed to find one. It was a sunny afternoon but I was in the shade of my balcony using my iPhone. It's the only camera I have. iPhone's do take pretty good pics.

I ordered a Boker Tree Brand Smoked Oak Wood Camp Knife. A real classic and a beauty. I'm thinking about ordering the black delrin version.

Thanks, I like this one because of the mokume, I only have a few knives with it, it matches well with the imbula handle and the typhoon pattern of the blade. I try to carry and use all of my knives, especially the nice ones.

@MT: The bolsters at the Böker are Mokume Gane, aren´t they? The knife is looking really great. I believe, you are looking forward getting this one. I would do the same :D :)

Kind regards
Andi

Yes, Mokume Gane, made by Rob Thomas of Las Vegas, NV, he also made the stainless damascus blade. Thanks for the kind comments.

I remember your saying something to that effect in previous posts.

I think that's great!
