Since the 5 Coqs - SNAKEWOOD isn't available (from my chosen vendor), I decided to go with a plain ole EBONY one

Drag you not getting your first choice Jim, BUT the vendor was very competent in not sending out a defective one-not all sellers are like that....Myself, I prefer the Ebony version and Snakewood is tricky stuff- it can soon lose its beauty when exposed to daylight and has cracking potential. Maybe that was the fault discovered in the original? Whatever, this will be a high quality carry and a good looker too.

Thanks Will !!! ... the Ebony will grow on me LoL.
While the vendor did not specify the fault, I did not realize Snakewood could have those confounding dispositions and maybe things do happen for a reason.
One thing I find peculiar about the Fontenille Pataud 5 Coqs pattern is the blade swedge on only the mark side.
It's said swedges are particularly useful as an aid to piercing movements, especially on a spear point blade but why only the one side? ... maybe just to make me happy

Update: I removed pics but just to say seller is doing everything they can to correct the mix up. Apparently sent my knife to wrong buyer and fortunately it seems that buyer will be sending the knife back so this gets sorted out. Phew!

Apparently mixed up the order and I’m waiting to hear if the person who received my order is good enough to return it to seller to correct the mix up. Needless to say I’m pissed.

I do hope all gets worked out. One good thing, seller has name and address of other person. Makes dealing with person easier.

Forgot to check DHL shipping, so free shipping will be without tracking and will be much slower to arrive D'OH
Based on previous orders from Fontenille Pataud France, I should see the Pradel in 2-3 months
