at least in this stock photo, I think this one looks better anyways.I wish they did that blue bone in carbon steel but in the immortal words of the Stones, you can’t always get what you want…View attachment 3026537

My sample is better, but a little mushy on one blade and jigging is good, but not spectacular.Sorry to report the Case sowbelly I ordered was sadly disappointing in many ways so I returned it. I guess I’m spoiled by the classic Case jigging. The View attachment 3029576action on all three blades was mushy too.
Could the action have been improved by cleaning and lubing the joints?Sorry to report the Case sowbelly I ordered was sadly disappointing in many ways so I returned it. I guess I’m spoiled by the classic Case jigging. The View attachment 3029576 action on all three blades was mushy too.
To me it is too symmetrical; even columns, rows, and size, instead of somewhat random.
Sorry to hear that. I always thought Case had some of the nicest jigging, but I have to agree, your example is kind of disappointing. I have three Case sowbellies, and the action on all of them is a smooth 6. Just about right.Sorry to report the Case sowbelly I ordered was sadly disappointing in many ways so I returned it. My thoughts exactly. It almost looks machine made. I could have lived with / worked with the blade action and the grinds/edges were pretty good. The CV would surely have broken in nicely. But the covers just bummed me out. Especially for a little over $100 with tax.Could the action have been improved by cleaning and lubing the joints?
Yeah ... I know cleaning and lubing the joints ... and sharpening/evening the grind ... should not be required at Rough Ryder's price point -- let alone at Case's price point.
Sadly, some production knives leave the factory with polishing compound (or much, much worse) remaining in one or more of the joints, regardless of brand and price point.
Is that a new jigging pattern, or is it suppose to be their 'Peach Seed' jigging?
If 'Peach Seed' ... agree it looks ... off ... compared to their previous efforts.

Well I won't be getting this pair if UticasI just bought this pair of Utica Sportsman knives on Ebay, it looks like they just have some corrosion from being stored in their sheaths ( which are missing) in a damp environment , but don't appear to have been used much if at all.

I've got plans to modify / customize and rehandle both, but will probably gift one of them.

That one's a beauty, and comes complete with sabre grind. Very nice -- congrats!I’m a big fan of the #12View attachment 3029831 these days. Such a great pattern. It would be nice to see GEC do a run of these now. Anyway this is the one I recently purchased.
Sweet!Been wanting a #78 for a while. Had to pull the trigger.
