RF2 framelock - Stonewashed Electric Blue/Bronze - Just Finished!

So much talent here.

Dan that folder is sick brother.

Now for me I finally got this Kwaiken sorted pretty much

ATS 34 59Rc, taper tang, dovetail carbon graphite bolsters with red G10 lined desert iron wood scale, all stainless hardware.

Blade is a nice satin machine finish with some sheen and a rounded spine that is polished.

It will be getting a carbon fiber/kydex concealment sheath this weekend

Sweet stuff guys!

Just made these over the weekend!! I made this grinder to be mainly a handle wok grinder and I have a small wheel attachment on it so far.

DR....

Me and my big mouth just got myself into a head-to-head challenge with another maker, to build competing knives that will go head-to-head in cutting performance and also pass the ABS JS testing.

Including the bendy part, which is not really what I'm all about, but here we go! :)

This is going to be a big challenge for me, and win lose or draw, I'm sure I'll learn a lot.

I think you got this James. You don't have to name the other maker but just how did that challenge start?

Finally got my disc grinder up and running. Now I need to figure out all the things I can do with it.

ok so here is my entry for my first real attempt at a perfect knife execution vs the mediocre ones I've made to learn from over the last several months
One where I actually had a plan to start with, one where I took my time and didn't feel in a rush to complete and one where I stayed committed to finishing it despite any mistakes along the way.

Jerid Johnson gave me some guidance along the way and was sort of my coach.

This is a copy of a Harvey Dean utility that I own, with a shortened handle, Flat ground with swedge and Paduak handle.
I even worked up the nerve to make a little slip sheath on my own, my first crack at leather :-)

I think that rest flips around so the handles are on the bottom

LOL. You are absolutely correct. Thanks for pointing that out. I should have looked at the pic on the website. It will change my plan for a dust extraction system I was going to make.

That is an interesting grinder Daniel. I could use one like that. I'm thinking about a second grinder. Finally getting to that point. Now I just have to explain that to the Mrs. .... :|

Your knife looks great too sir.

Almost kept this one for myself. :)

Beautiful!! Where do you get thong tubes? I can find them but yours look like they have really thin walls which is nice.

Also what finish and belt profession are you using?

Hope you don't mind my asking,

Thanks Daniel!
As far as the tubes I get mine from ebay. Its just standard aluminum tubing. These are 1/4 OD. Not sure of the wall thickness though.
My belt progression changes all the time depending on what belts I have on hand. I live relatively close to TruGrit so I try not to overload myself with belts. Normally I only have enough on hand to finish half a dozen blades at a time. Normally though I like to go from a 40 or 60 grit for hogging material then a 120. From there it depends. In the past I have jumped straight from 120 to a 400grit Gator belt. Most of the time though I go from 120 to 220 Gator and then either a cork or gator belt to whatever grit I have on hand, usually 400 or 600.

This one was finished with a 600 grit cork:
