Very nice Kevin! Is that the Shokwood from USAKM? I always thought it was pretty gaudy but your knife sure changed my mind! Where do you get your copper rivets for the sheath?
Yes is shokwood made by beyond wood products. I really like it a lot. This set was done to match a mini cleaver I made for the owner of the company.![]()
The copper rivets and associated tools to set them were purchased at my local Tandy.
Here's another shokwood knife I'm currently working on. It's buckeye burl with red metallic. The beautiful thing about the shokwood is that the resins stabilize the wood and fill in voids.

Wow Kevin!
That Shokwood looks amazing. I've been putting off getting some since its a bit pricey but after seeing these I might have to breakdown.
I'm working on a few more this week. Just gotta slap some handles on em.![]()
Hi Josh,
Really like that clean grind look.
What is your belt progression on this one? How are you getting such clean flats? (since you mentioned a 1x42, I doubt you are using a surface grinder).
Thanks!

Just finished this one. 1084, box elder, OD green micarta with orange liners and carbon fiber pins.

Hey Seionage,
Its true I do not have a surface grinder. I use the flat platen on my grinder (2x72) using the same grit progression described in one of my previous posts. I just recently got my 2x72 but still got similar results using my 2x42 craftsman with either gator or cork belts. Getting a good finish on the flats straight off the grinder is still a bit challenging for me so I don't really have any tips other than to keep things as steady and consistent as possible.
Also just finished these two up tonight![]()
Your handle work is inspirational Josh.
Thanks Lo/Rez!That's a nice clean looking knife.
