Thanks! On Instagram there's a lot of WIP pics and videos. If I uploaded a video to photobucket and posted it here the quality would be terrible.

Let's try YouTube.

Kevin,

Fine looking Bowie you have there. How do you sculpt the handles? My Rhino Fingers Skin work excellent for handle scupting with the platen out and pressing on the back of the belt to get the curves and angles I want on my Handles.

PM me your address and I'll send you a set , No charge!

Laurence,
I did most of the shaping with the belt, small wheels, and some time on the slack belt. Then files and sandpaper to crisp up the spots that it wanted to be crisp. I never thought about wrapping my fingers to the backside of the belt, I'm going to have to try that. Thank you, I'll send you an email.

Currently hand sanding a batch of stainless knives for heat treat shipment. Lots of hand sanding

Some damasteel and this Niolox blade for my daughter.

Been a little absent here lately. Looks like everyone is turning out some neat stuff!

We've been working on a new hunter and a shorter fillet knife. Getting the new designs completed and building all the fixturing for them have kept us very busy. We also had some trouble with our mill, to add a little variety to our schedule  Luckily that's mostly sorted out now and we're on track to have everything ready for our first big show of the year this weekend. After the show the new knives will be available on bladeforums and through our site

The new hunting knife, or "Lynx" as we call it, has a couple new features which we haven't offered on previous models. A hidden lanyard, jimping and scales with liners are the three main ones. We're also changing the way we do sheaths. Still using kydex for the body but we're now making the belt loops out of a very stiff webbing. I want to mention that we got the webbing loop idea from Aaron Gough We really like the webbing for a number of reasons, so thank you Aaron for sharing that info!

Here are a few photos of the new knives. Mostly the Lynx because we haven't cleaned up and assembled any of the fillet yet.

Getting closer to finishing my shop.....

The shop is looking great Rick. I'm not too proud to admit jealousy.
I AM too proud to admit to crying at the end of Wall-E... 'cuz that just never happened. Pretty sure it was a sliver of titanium in my eye.

whew...finally got 39 blades out the door to be heat treated...gonna be an epic knifemaking year for me , very excite!
Here is one that just got back to me after being on a cross country tour for a few months:) Whats more fun than food prep with one of your very own? :)

Rick, that shop DOEs look awesome, wow !

Rick, I really like how that shop is coming together. I've got a similar option as far as land goes to the right of my house, and directly at the end of the driveway for the house. I am strongly considering building a similar structure, and then me and the missus will be staying in this home for retirement. We've discovered we can't afford to downsize and build what we want for the same price in Florida, so now retiring in our home of the past 13 years seems like an option.
Thanks for sharing that pic of your shop.

I Just pulled the trigger on a Little Machine Shop mini mill 3990...Got a bit of learning to do

RCETROY, I would be interested in how this mill works out for you. I do not have any experience in operating a mill but I would like to learn how just to mill the slots in guards for my knives. Please share your experience with learning to operate this machine. It looks very cool and might be something I need as well. Good luck. Larry

Larry, I'll try to chronicle my journey into the world of milling. Maybe I'll start a new thread for this.
I got it hoping to mill slots for guards etc, but also to hopefully open up the world of folders some day down the line.

Hi guys. I just finished my first knife so I thought i would share it. It's made from a file. With a black cherry handle

S-guard bowie(s) build:

I like to rough-in the general contours of the handle on the grinder. Then following a series of pencil lines I file away the angles and gradually sneak up on a symmetrical form. I also need to smoothly mate the contours and planes of the antler spacer to the wood handle. The wrought guard and spacer will be polished and etched, so I'm leaving the front of the antler spacer just a bit proud and will round it slightly to make a smooth transition. I still have a bit of work to do on the guards

A bit of 180 sandpaper:

The small one is roughly shaped:
