Thanks Strigamort! We are just milling out a couple of the next prototypes + handles today. Pics coming on monday after HT.

Nice parers North Arm. I need to make one of those badly. I'll keep my eyes on your progress. :) I'll be happy to make a final knife as nice as that green one.

Sweet rig Nick! Forgot to mention how amazing that headhunter is too.

Doing a run of "budget" knives. The ones with four holes are AEB-L and will be finished with some nice burl and the ones with 1 hole are 52100 and will be done in epoxied 550 cord.

Hi guys new to the site as a registered user but long time lurker. Just wanted to post what I have going on.

Been staying in the 1075-1084 world so far and still trying to find "my style" but slowly getting there. Here are two of my knives I have completed lately. One I posted a few weeks ago so I apologize for the double post:D The second one I finished today. Sorry for the low quality pics the sun was just about down at this point.

I could see myself carrying the top one. Nice job!

Finally back at the grinder after a long break. I have a Lycaon ready for handles, but no pic there, looks like any other example of my Lycaons if you bother looking it up. Then the new one, which doesn't have a name yet. Essentially I had a few folks ask about a tougher version of my Nubilus pattern blade and this is my first answer. Same blade profile with a beefier handle and 5/32 CPM154 steel. I use a full height flat grind to a fairly thin edge to maximize cutting power for the size and intended roles. It still won't be quite as good a slicer as the 1/8 or 3/32 Nubilus blades, but close. The handle will be fairly standard for me, nothing too fancy. This first one is getting black paper or linen micarta with stainless hardware. Two pins and a thong tube to be exact. I'm still not sure if this will go for thin/flat with 1/8" scales or a bit more of a full grip with 1/4" scales as the starting point. Obviously that kind of thing can and does vary by individual knife, I don't consider that to be design specific on my stuff.

You're right, cocobolo is nice wood to work with, and it looks good on this knife! I've used 1" round W1 a fair bit in the past, and still have some left. Your post has me wanting to work with it again- lotsa frost boogers along that hamon.

I watched the vid just to see if I was right about it being a clayless quench. Yep!

That's impressive as ever. Thanks for sharing.

BTW Karburized, that's a really good looking chef knife.

GHEzell,Now that's the stuff, people don't realize what it takes to make that blade..

I don't have any pictures to add at this time, but I'll tell you what's going on.

Yesterday I did the primary bevel grinding on a 7.5 inch slicer I'm making from the last of the piece of CPM S35VN that already yielded two 6 inch chef knives. All three of those knives are still in process. In addition, I have three small paring/peeling knives that I cut from an 18" x 1" bar of CPM S30V, all of which are still in process. In fact, two are already at Peter's for HT, two are already through the first pass of pre-HT hand sanding, and the other two are ready to jump onto the hand sanding jig as soon as it opens up. I'm determined to wait until the remaining 4 are ready, and send those to Peter's in one batch.

In total, I now have 6 knives in an incomplete state. That's far more than I have ever had before. I tend to work on one or two at a time when working on the more militaristic/involved knives.

I don't know what happened to me, but when I made the switch to kitchen knives I suddenly went into batch processing mode.
