Feels like deja-vu, but 3 out of 4 buyers of my 4 dive knives all asked for orange handles. Here’s the last of my divers all wrapped up and ready to head out in the morning:
Having been a diver myself, I can understand the want for a high vis handle. Water can get REALLY silty, and if you drop the thing, you want to maximize the ability to see it. Were these sharp? Typically dive knives are not really very sharp…

Absolutely! Just figured between neon yellow, green, and orange there’d be more parity lol.

The blade is definitely sharp. When I designed it I was asked for a knife that could pull duty under water but also knocking around on the boat. I tried to balance the needs of a boat/dive knife by having a sharp main edge, a very stout tip and thicker tbe for the front edge, and an exposed pommel for any smashy needs.

Lc200n is an interesting steel though, and if decent lateral torque is applied you’ll find huge chunks missing, even at .24” thickness.

I bought a sheet of Ultrex when we first saw it here, this is the only knife I have tried it on. Definitely different stuff to work with, will have to see how it wears. Should have this one completed by this evening after some touch ups and buffer time on the metal.

I have a piece ready to try and am looking forward to testing difference in grip with the alternating rubber layers.

I don't know if it is just me but when I finish a knife with Canvas Micarta and G10 regardless of low grit or high grit they just seems so slippery. Even after washing it with mild soap. My hands are really dry down in the shop maybe.
I love that stuff so far. Very comfortable. Way superior to micarta in terms of grip. Yet to see long term use, durability of rubber component will be interesting to foll

With micarta I find a polished finish more grippy. Last one I did I sanded to P800 then buffed with brown tripoli compound. Feels nice and sticky sort of. Suretouch is a game changer though. I really hope it holds up with time (the rubber part)
