That guard fit even has a satisfying sound. Please tell me you milled the fittings? Grind also looks top notch.
Yeah, I love that! The first few try fits I had to tap it on with a mallet, but things worked themselves in.
I drilled a hole close to where the slot terminates, ran it through the portaband and did the rest with hand files.
part of me wants to solder it, just because I haven't done that before. Also, solder would cover up the tiny gap I can see which drives me crazy. Buuuut...epoxy is pretty tough to beat for something like this

About finished with this one. It’s by far the largest knife I’ve made yet and turning out to be the nicest. I’ve still got some finish work to do on the handle, but it’s about 95% right now. The red micarta was weird to work with it didn’t want to grind, just smeared on my belts, but responded well to hand filing and hand sanding. Your comments are always welcome!

Looks great. How is the balance. Hard to tell in the photos but looks like 3/16" or 1/4" thick blade.
