I agree with this. A lesson I've had to learn is that a 2x72 is easier to use, but it doesn't make you better at grinding.

Gabe, that's a great blade, keep up the good work!
Thank you, I definitely don’t think it will make me better at grinding but I do think it will give me a good opportunity to get better. I appreciate the kind words

Getting started on the next commission/book spot project, going with a heavy bold basketweave reminiscent of the frag milling on this Marfione Custom stainless Ultratech...should be pretty sweet😎

Hello and welcome G gabeofalltrades07 ! Very impressive work! 👍

I'm also a teenage maker (18) and I've only been making knives for a few years as well... Anyway, it's very cool to see other young makers on here!
Also do you happen to have an Instagram? (might have to send me a DM) I'd love to see more of your work!

Joseph
Awesome! And thank you! Yeah I don’t see alot of younger makers sadly. my ig is G gabeofalltrades07

this beast is just about finished apart from a few tweaks, but sharp and ready for use

Thanks for the nice words.
I like the combo of vintage micarta and large bolsters, I would like to a slip joint as well, but not there yet.

So I completed slip joint #2 and learned a lot of lessons. First don’t use a countersink at the pivot pin the pins will not expand that much. Second don’t wait till it’s almost finished to try and put the makers mark on. Third when you solder the bolsters make sure it good.

Without further dragging it out. I present this Barlow/ boys knife in 26c3 steel, natural micarta, AEBL bolster(because it’s what I had) copper liners and pins. 445A972A-216A-495A-9CED-937CD6FEEE70.jpeg92C02705-4F04-454D-9CB6-01DB7398F8C2.jpeg80CFE48E-BEC8-4D70-84F3-E7344D9DB89C.jpeg502860E7-3A0E-4833-8C4A-70FD9B1F1D69.jpeg3D818A43-DC4C-460E-900A-926E202BEF1B.jpegB6ED0619-FEAA-4FF4-875B-1B551167A753.jpeg4C44BE80-0744-4759-935D-5A5D3B03BB5E.jpeg

Here's two I'm finishing up. These two were started when I still lived in Miami. Both are S110V with Ivory G10 handles and Titanium hardware. One has red liners the other has green. Both my wife and daughter are huge Harry Potter fans so, they started calling one Slitherin (green) and the other Gryffindor (red).

This one turned out okay. I lost a little detail in the heat treat line as I finished and polished the blade. I’m still figuring that part out. I should have planned out my clay placement better because you can see the line in the top of the handle which bothers me a little. It’s by far my best knife yet though.
