shit, man. By my count it looks as though I have over 40 knives in process. Definitely a record for me. Should keep me busy for a few months!

Lots of "first times" with this knife. First time doing this design, first time acid etch/stonewash and also the first knife I was able to HT in my new HT oven. It was a fun project and learned a lot about what not to do and how to improve on the next one. On the bright side its a super comfortable knife and will functional great. (8670 with Bocote wood). Going to do some final cleanup today after work and need to figure out how to get rid of that epoxy grime next to the scales since I cant use acetone with the etch..........

Why can't you use acetone? That shouldn't remove rust/iron oxide (which is what your etching left behind).

Make a chisel out of a brass rod, it shouldn't mar the blade...

I ended up using a wood toothpick and got 90% removed. I will finish everything else up after work. I thought acetone would change the etching. Good to know that's not off the table. 👍

That looks great and really awesome pattern

I picked up some vintage rag micarta from WW2 for a Birthday present for my FIL this upcoming May.
It was from the Navy, and he is a Proud Servicemember, and I know he should like this as he is also a history buff..... and likes knives, and I haven't made him any yet

Yikes that stuff STINKS.
I wear a mask, but Im still kinda worried just how bad my shop/basement/house is going to stink!
All I did so far was flatten it, and glued it to some liners.

It was sized kinda crappy with odd thicknesses, I can barely fit my not large handle in the usable area. & It cost A lot for what I am used to :/
I hope I can make this work.

You can make one in most any size, just use a hardenable steel rod, drill a shallow pocket in the center of the end, polish out the big scratches and harden.
316L spins the easiest.

Also on this BEAUTIFUL Sunday here in NC, working on finishing the first of 4 S90V Utility Karambits. This one has a LVA Carbon Fiber Handle with Cherry/Ruby red G10 Liners, Cherry red g10 pins and accent, and titanium pins. Been putting these off, because they are a PITA! This one has a very Star Wars/Sith vibe to it.

Handle is sanded to 120 grit, going up to 600 or 800 grit.
