Polishing some 10V hollow ground blades. Anyone have a recommendation for diamond lapping films?

It should be similar to grind. I haven't used s90v, so I can't comment.

But also, rather than being in the 60-61 on hrc like you generally see s90v, the 10v I'm grinding is around 65hrc, and the k390 is at 67 hrc. So that could make a little difference too.

Though, s90v does have around a 21% carbide volume (from what I can find, that number could be completely wrong) 10v should have around a 17.5% carbide volume, and k390 should have around 17%. Some of the carbide volume in s90v should be vanadium enriched chromium carbide, while all, or nearly all will be vanadium carbide for the other two, so then end up having similar wear resistance even with a little smaller of a carbide volume.
Yeah. You won't have too much more trouble working with any of these other ones.

I haven't personally worked with it, but rex 121 is really the only thing that I have heard is that much noticably harder to work with than these steels.

But since I can't say first hand, take that with a grain of salt.

I use 3m. But i got some of the 5 inch discs they sell on amazon. I think they come under "signi" brand or something. They seem to hold up, and polish just as well.

Also, i know someone in hong kong that just opened an online store that is selling films he is sourcing from china, along with some vitrified diamond stones he is working on making. Though i'm not sure what his current stock looks like for how many films he has to sell, but the price is way better than anything I've found here in the states, and he is selling full sized sheets.

Obviously I can't link to it here though.

A little edc fixed blade I did. In m2 steel. I did 2 at the same time. When i went to make the other sheath I tried to do a different technique for making the stitching holes though. (Using my drill press) big mistake. Completely scrapped it, and it was my last piece of leather. So I've been waiting the last week to get more to finish the other one. Did an etched finish to try showing the carbide banding that naturally is their with m2. IMG_20230811_222852563_MP.jpg

The only real difference between the two i made was I got 2 clips to try for these pocket sheaths one, is the one shown here. The other is an ulticlip.

In the future I'm going ulticlip for this kind of thing. It clips down so tight when you flip the tab. I think its perfect for this specifically.

It is finally not blazing hot in the garage this weekend...got some handles rough shaped and profiled. Polished a few blades back from HT.

I finally finished up another knife like the one I did for last years kitchen KITH, sort of a santoku style. I was worried my KITH knife was too thick with too tall of a secondary bevel, so one of my goals with this one was to go thinner. It’s better, but I’ve obviously still got a lot of room for improvement. This one’s going to my brother who considers himself quite the home chef. Anyways, it’s AEB-L, acacia burl from Ben Greenberg Woods Greenberg Woods , brass Corby bolts, and black G10 liners.

I got all the pins for these cut to length today, and all the rest of the holes drilled, too. The fronts of the handle are profiled as of today, and I guess the next thing here is to start grinding some steel

^these three have tapered tangs. There was one knife I did before that had a tapered tang. I think I learned all the 'what not to dos' working through these three. Pretty sure there will be a fair number more of those lessons before they're done
