5x big are from M390PM 4,3mm steel about 59HRC
Smaller knives from N690 2,5mm about 60HRC.

Foundation for the power hammer is curing nicely. Got an update on my hydraulic forging press, and it should be here early next week. I'm gearing up for a lot more shop time and forging this fall and winter ! =P

Foundation is solid enough to walk across this morning, now to give it until the beginning of november before I move the hammer onto it =)

^ looking good!

I'm all over the place as usual... also working on folder details and more Ti knives. ...and a group of rigging and Chef's knives ...and some choppers ...plus a few more, :D

Backpacker - I just anodized this one

Yanagi Ba - I've been hand sanding this like a maniac and it is looking good! full mirror/high satin two tone finish. I felt my burnished waterstone finish needed to be more even so I went back to the sandpaper... up to 2500 grit on the bevel then a quick polish.

This knife is so awesome it has a another knife in it! :p

Halfways through wet sanding sheaths by hand...

Custom KCT :D Oil Slick Ano

I need to work on this truck next! 1962 Ford F100 Unibody with a 351 Cleveland.

Almost finished knives :)

Seven hours of driving and have a few hours of work to do, should be stitching tomorrow morning.

^ Very nice!

Start of a Tanto...

I have a power saw but needed to get the most out of my bar of Ti. This piece was cut with a hacksaw. Never let the lack of equipment slow you down!

This has a long ways to go... I'm going to change the profile a bit too.

Big respect to Hartsfield for the inspiration.

Justin- Did you put an isolation pad between that chunk of concrete and the surrounding walls and ground below? Probably not necessary but it definitely helps to isolate the shock transfer to surroundings. Cheapest way is some type of styrofoam sheet, professional way is to go to unisorb.com and look and the regu-foam pads. Those are expensive but offer supreme isolation for vibrating equipment. Just a thought....

Here's an update: The first knife I began working on has scales glued up and ready to be shaped and I just finished refining the grind on a pairing/petty knife. I was so excited yesterday that I finally had time to work on a knife, but I made a rookie mistake and forgot to finish the front of the scales near the ricasso before I set them up with epoxy. Oh well, I will make it work somehow, the part of learning to be a knife maker is learning how to fix the mistakes. I have to remember to slow down and not be in a rush.

Finally got a stencil and finished up a few more of my second batch. Some Christmas gifts for some friends. Made a cheap lightbox out of cardboard, tape and tissue paper for these photos. Worked out much better than the cheap cell phone pics of past. Each batch refining the process and learn more and more. Thanks to all the help on this forum.. thanks everyone.

Hawk45, Those are beautiful knives. I have never put any jimping on a blade and I wonder if you used a checkering file to start the jimping or just filed each slot. I would like to try it. Can you give me any advice? Thanks, Larry Lehman, Bakersfield, Ca
