Still preparing for my js test and going mental over plunge lines.
The grid of symmetry (aka grid of shame) shows any inconsistencies and where to take more material. Combined with magnification and no mistakes can be hidden.
The following picture is 8x magnification, the two center lines are a few thousands apart.

Here’s a French Ball Knife I made a while back. This is my first time making this design. The scales are bocote and the blade is 52100 with a blued finish.

Are you sure that’s Bocote? It looks like Bloodwood in the picture.

TBH, I’m not sure! The customer gave me a block of wood to use for the scales and said that it was bocote. I agree that it does favor bloodwood.

Finished these today. The bottom one was salvaged from the scrap pile. It’s one of my favorite knives that I’ve made now. I got it under 3.5 ounces too which is lighter than a lot of the folders I carry. Had a hard time getting good pictures because I was running out of light.

well underway! Next step is sanding blocks to get things evened out and symmetrical then back to the grinder for finishing

Post Taco Tuesday handle shaping: CPM S110V (ground post HT!) shaping the crosscut micarta handle. Decided on Titanium Corby bolts for this one, to compliment the higher corrosion resistance of s110v. sitting at a rough 120 grit on the handle.
