And yes, shipping direct from Emerson sucks. Shipping is over $30 direct.
Not defending Emerson's shipping charges, but I'm on the other side of the country from Emerson and USPS Priority is showing $17.65 on the website for a knife.

You are right. I just saw that. When I was ordering before the Priority was not an option. It UPS or FedEx.

Ha hahahahahaha ...

I ship stuff I sell on eBay Priority Mail Flat Rate and they supply the boxes and envelopes for free. Much less than the rate if you use location, weight and dimensions.
Any individual knife could be shipped that way for $10 or less to any of the 50 states and US possessions. They include $50 insurance and as a seller, I'd take the risk unless it was a higher value shipment. I've sold and shipped over 2000 items that way without a single loss. Maybe I'm just lucky but in any case I'd chance it.

That said, it's his business, not mine, how much he wants to charge for the shipping, and mine to determine if I would pay that. For me, that amount would leave a bad taste.

^not like it’s a good deal anyway. $10 to ship something? Yikes that seems like more than I’ve paid to ship things.

Shipping is ridiculous these days for anything heavier than 1lb.

Obviously, that's not what's happening here. My guess is that he's adding the cost of an employee packaging, adding a label, etc.

It doesn't take $30 to ship and insure a $300 pocketknife
Emerson isn't charging $30 for their cheapest shipping option.

The brand is dope, just not my cup of tea. I can see the appeal though. But 30 bucks to ship a pocket knife is just way too much.... I thought to myself that can't be right...so I checked myself.

I'll echo the shipping price should be included, but to each their own.

Interesting. I have different shipping options when I make a selection. Wonder what that's all about.
