What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

It is the Skinny Fat Bowie

Think you Timmy.
I try not to do that too much. All it does is send me down rabbit holes. Then I just question everything and eat a sandwich then forget why I started thinking in the first place then play with my kids then they ask a question and I have to think of the proper way to answer so that I'm not lying when I tell them the answer that SOCIETY expects them to know, but it's different than the truth then I think about why those answers are different then I go down ravbit holes and then I think about cool knifes and wait what?

Some of you may recognize this design. Only a handful made so far in 15N20 and AEB-L. This will be the first one in MagnaCut.

Fantastic!

With that handle it looks like a new knife.

Thank you B!

If I'm not mistaken, I believe this is the first of the skinny fats?

You are correct. Thank you for owning the first Skinny Fat Bowie which I made two years ago!

I ordered this Magnacut Skinny Fat, and I am beyond excited. Seeing yours is making that worse. Is yours AEB-L?

It is 3/32" 15N20, and was made originally as a one-off through sheer explorative fancy. The stock thickness was where the "Skinny" came from, and although yours is of thicker stock, the name has stuck. Even in thicker stocks, I'll simply rationalize it to mean the stock thickness is skinny relative to the "Fat" blade width. After the praise I receive for the knife from our kind friend Willie of the Wilderness I knew I had to make more.

Since David already covered the steel type, I'll just add that even though it's not seen much use (yet) it's one of my favorites.

That’s great to hear. I anticipate the same, since I like Bowies, and I like David’s knives, this should be a home run. I carry fixed blades all the time these days, at least when not at work, and so I expect this one to see some use pretty quickly.
