What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

Thank you Hurrul Hurrul . Standard Prevail though. And I didn't realize what I was in for when I ordered this MagnaCut, but the mill finish really makes for a nice contrast, and encouraged me to do more saber grinds. Prior to this the only other saber ground Prevail was the one in 8670 that went to 19-3ben 19-3ben .

Oh, and my R&D wharncliffe variant that has been on my hip for a few months... I am actually ready to move that one along to someone at a low price to reflect the use and abuse it has undergone.

ETA: MOVED IT!

I remember that one; had green and black scales.

Depending on the blade height and stock thickness, I like sabre grinds/partial height primary grinds.

But, to me, it's hard to beat a full height primary grind and I tend to seek it out over other bevel types....but, not all the time, every time - too many cool knives out there to be to limiting.

Yeah, three of my four DM Custom knives have full height primary grind, which I think makes them slicier, but I’m also open to other grinds (saber, hollow, convex).

However, with the saber grind I may prefer a fully finished blade, although the remaining mill grind on my Bitty Bitey Birdie doesn’t look bad at all.

Don't have the equipment yet for hollow grinds....

Happy to do your next saber grind that way for you.

Thank you! I really like the mill finish, and I will be doing all my R&D saber ground knives that way because they look so cool to me.

Overtime, I've grown to like and prefer patinas and other techniques for darkening or coloring/coating the blade.

I don't avoid shiny, brightly polished knives, but stainless steel surfaces won't patina (and I like a nice patina...) so, using the rough forge scale on a sabre grind to emphasize or accentuate the blade look, is a nice compromise for stainless stuff.

I always used dremel sanding drums for my handle texture before. After trying a diamond bit on my little neck knife I thought what else can I do? A couple quick test pieces here.

I just freehanded it with the dremel in one hand and the workpiece in the other. I think for writing and drawing I'll come up with a way to keep it still, otherwise I think there's potential here.
