Sometimes R&D involves little more than trying new things out during the build, in this case my first attempt at file working MagnaCut.

I’m still up too lol, night shifts are hard to break the cycle for days off.

came up with an idea for later. Nine and half inch blade. Might switch to 15N20 for big knives since I can get it from Alpha in .250" instead of the .225" max for 8670.

The big chopper looks great but might need an extra half inch on the flat of the handle for my hand. Looks like a lot of fun

Also, the 15N20 arrived in Trenton yesterday, and I realized I have not finished the two sheets worth of CAD files for them, so I've been on that today. I'm not leaving the apartment until I have that emailed to them. Then a post office run tomorrow, followed by some shop time. Today has been rainy all day here anyway, so I'm fine with staying in.

I would have thought your R&D included something like 1,000 cardboard cuts, sharpening some spikes, some batoning, making some kindling, some knife throws, pork carcus slashing/stabbing, and maybe smashing through a brick…. or something along those rigorous lines haha

Lol! I mean if it were my first time using that particular steel, maybe, but a lot of those questions are answered for me already, and the ones that aren't, well..... there are youtubers that can take the flack for being ridiculous. I'll just keep making knives that do what they are supposed to.

This will be a Polecat scout with frogblanks and Indian ebony scales with yellow liners and spacers.
