I heat the house with wood heat. That means on the coldest days, I wake up, make a fire, drink coffee and play a few chess games, answer emails, make calls, and then reup the fire, before heading to the shop. Where I then build a fire, which takes some time to get the shop to a level where I can actually handle tools and materials without my hands going numb, then work for however long. And the longer I stay at the shop, the colder it is when I get home, which means building a new fire right away when I get home. So the coldest days so far have involved three or four trips to the wood shed in addition to that. Next week is supposed to be a bit less cold, and the days are starting to get longer again, so I felt next week would be a little easier to get fired back up again. This is my first winter using wood heat at home, and I know it's probable there will be even colder days coming, but I expect the above mentioned cycle will be more tolerable with the longer daylight.
So Dave's here, but strategizing to avoid winter blues burnout.
