What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

I never did. I don't like slick handles to start with, but the kicker is there is no tool more commonly associated with grievous knifemaker injuries than a buffer. My mind has been made up on this for quite some time now. Someone wants a knife from me with a buffed handle? I'm sure there is someone they can pay to do it. Any knife I made, if you see it with a buffed handle, someone else did it.

Yep. Even catching an edge on a rectangular, dull scale slab can be a frightening experience. I use a fully variable speed, 1/2hp buffer so that helps a bit.

I don't do it on handles because of all the curves, but I've found if you sand material between 5,000 - 10,000 grit it looks significantly better anyways.

Slow week so far as I have been doing a lot at home.

But I have regrinds, and mods to work on next, as well as the last Hudson Bay which I’ll be starting next week, along with ROFRs. I have some exciting new micarta from Fixall Fixall too. The crosscut Micarta is for the customer who ordered the Hudson Bay Bowie but the rest is so far unclaimed, as are two of the Spartans.

I like your blade profile outline, but hear me out - imagine it with a slight harpoon, from just a small change by leaving as little of the material at the top front of the blade that your sharpie lines shows will be removed?

Are you going to re-profile the handle too?

Let’s also round the corners of the thumb plate even more than from the factory and subtly bevel the edge for fashion factor. Not the bottom edge though, we want that sharp and grippy.

I tried a drum size down for the serrations this. Also, DocJD DocJD I thought about when you asked me why I didn’t take the serrations to the tip last time. I figured, why not. If you look closely you can still tell which serrations were already part of the original combo edge. But I think the smaller drum made it easier for me to get them closer to uniform this time. Not to mention more teeth makes it look more awesomer.
