What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

I know. I wish I could serve everyone right away....

It's a fantastic thing to just be in the queue somewhere! Because someday , one day in the future, it will come. And the wait is always , always worth it. It's nice to be in line somewhere. I didn't mean to sound selfish. I was just excited to see the knives.

Started getting Bocote processed and had end cuts that won’t be suitable for scales. Made a couple quick and basic gifts for friends. Forgot to snap the first one; here’s the second:

This is less than a quarter of the big Bocote slab, eight pairs of extra large bookmatched crosscut scales.



As you can see, one pair is large enough to do my current largest chef knife design, the Samurai Pierre, and a TeenyChef.



There’s lots more where that came from.

I'm also a fan of Goncalo Alves. It is often used for guitars. It is supposedly less sensitizing to those who work with wood too.
