What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

There should be some Moose wading around ...eah ?

Whatchu talkin' aboot eh?

Actually, yes, one came by with a calf one day while I was in the shop. Stood right in the driveway for a few minutes, as I'm told. Sadly I didn't see it. I was only told after the fact. It's a rare sight though.

Bit of a frustrating day today. The chef I made Saturday was ROFR for a gentleman and I wish I’d check the DM before assembling it because I forgot the liners.

I told him and said if that was a deal breaker I’d move it along to someone else with no ill will.

He replied and said he really wanted the liners but if I couldn’t sell it in a week he’d take it anyway.

But I couldn’t bring myself to sell it to anyone else or make him settle for that if I could avoid it. So I tried to drill the pins out so I could peel the scales off.

Nope. Drill walked. Right onto the scale material. Ruined.

And it’s blue canvas micarta of all things which is a total pain to work with in the first place. Yay!

Well, off they come anyway!

I have a bit more of the blue, and I have black liners, so let’s do this.

And then when I went to start the next pair of knives for a gentleman, I drilled the pin holes to the usual F letter bit size for my 1/4” pins as he’d selected a specific color of 1/4” G10 pin on the richlite Tanto.

Shoulda looked at the pin first because I’ve had that one for a while, since my pinholes were too small and instead of opening them with the dremel, I was chucking the pins in the drill and tuning them down.

So now his chosen pin color is too small for the hole in the richlite and this is the only richlite I have (and probably ever wil).

Thankfully I noticed before I drilled the Wharnanimous, which also is meant to get forest green. Also thankfully, he was willing to settle for OD pins on the Tanto.

And there is a customer specified blade shape and black Grip-Tec™ for another EDC Universal 1 in MagnaCut. Nothing frustrating about that one so far. Knock knock.

And it’s 93 degrees in the shop today. I’m melting.

it’s 93 degrees
I forgot to thaw ground beef
These sorta cancel out ...eh ? ;)

Really hot and humid in the Ohio Valley , here this week , after too much cool and wet .

Near miss of a tornado , blew down a lot of our oldest/ biggest and most beautiful trees . 😖

Some dropped into our fields and across my woods paths .

Can't get either chainsaw to work . Of course .

Both mowers have one flat tire .

Things could be much worse .

Chef knife is done… again.

And this is where I leave off on these three. Sheaths almost done and only satin and mark left for tomorrow. Should only take an hour at most and I can start something else.
