Took a break to head back home with Chris to take down the dead tree next to the diesel tank. Keith planted it a few years ago to give shade to the tank, but it died and hasn’t provided shade a day, since I’ve lived there at least.



Got some of it in the shed, the debris raked up and the rest of the big stuff on the slab off in the background for later processing.

Then a visit with Mittens’ kittens and back to work for a bit.

Believe me I’m tempted!

Not to worry though. In addition to cutting the Lucky Dog scales I need, I also cleaned up the off cuts and the other scales I’d already cut. As nice a fire as they’d make, they’ll definitely make better knives.

I might even eventually try it cross cut for R&D, though it’s probably doomed to failure in this wood.
