What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

Bilbo's sword, eventually given to Frodo, was named Sting. Your work, David, does bear some resemblance to the movie version of Sting. The narrowing blade section closer to the guard and the further portion of the blade being broader, were supposed to resemeble the shape of a some tree leaf on Tolkien lore.

Ah yes, but does David's sword glow blue when orks are near?

That would be cool, but since I'm pretty sure Ontario isn't Gondolin then I'd guess not. Plus all of those were forged pre War Of Wrath, I don't think third age products glowed.

I know, I showed my nerd, and it smells like...

Loser
I read you - Star wars/Star trek, D&D weren't really my cup of tea, but I've poured over the various works of Tolkien and his son, Christopher, plus the extensive art legacy that follows the Middle Earth lore. The 1st movie trilogy was a pleasant surprise in it's faithfulness to the written works and I still remmeber the excitement for each movie, even when over 20 yrs has passed.

I'm a star wars guy on top of the Tolkien stuff, so double nerd for me...

My mom was mad at my sister because she was born during an episode of Star Trek TNG, and my mom had to miss it when she went to the hospital, because it was in the days when if you missed it, you had to wait for re-runs.

Let’s just say I was born and raised steeped in nerddom and I totally get where you’re coming from.

Do you have these cut out by someone on a waterjet or something?

I waste a lot of steel cutting on my bandsaw. A layout like this is not possible...

Laser cut.

I didn't read the books but saw the movies, and I especially like the theme of redemption saturating the Return of the King.

I had a fun little job today. This is a freaky little piece! Not my style, as I like to have somewhere to put my thumb, but for saber grip, this thing is mean. And now it has an extra edge.

And I also put more elbow grease into two knives I already have on the go, and they're almost done. Ring knife is spoken for:

Lastly, not only do I feed the skitters, but guess who else sat at the table?

I found him after I rode home from starting work on a bike trail at Chris' property. But I didn't look, I just felt something odd, and pulled on it, then when I looked down to see a tick in my hand, I remembered my friend's advice to check everywhere if I ever find one, in case he has buddies. This one didn't. I'm glad he still had his head attached after I pulled him out, I figured it was just a piece of bark or something... but then I guess bark doesn't crawl up pant legs... 🤦‍♂️
