What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

Yes, it is a little different, as I refined the profile somewhat after heat treating.

So what's been happening the last few days? Well I checked the weather network Saturday morning to get an idea of what the day would be like. It showed a storm coming between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm, but I had more than enough time to get to the shop before that, and it was sunny out so off to work I went. Then the wind really picked up and so I closed the shop door and kept working, and prayed a few Hail Marys as is my custom. Then Chris showed up after the storm and I learned that it had been quite a doozy. The metal roof came off our local Home Hardware while his wife was there and it took out the rear window of her car. A fairly large tree fell over right behind the shop while I was in there grinding, and I didn't even notice it until a few hours after that even.

My apartment, and all of houses within the immediate village of Havelock were without power Saturday night after the storm and most of the day Sunday. The upstairs unit where I live is the internet service provider and the tower which provides their office and my apartment with internet is on the roof... and it was literally bent over in half. So even after power was restored yesterday I had no internet expect on my phone, until a few hours ago when Chris finished the tower repairs and whatever configuration he had to do inside.

But Saturday was a productive day. The lights only flickered a few times during the storm, and I worked through and finished up a few projects I had on the go, as well as got another one started and finished. So I've got a few things just about ready for this coming Saturday, as well as a ROFR knife done, the second EDChef Mark II, this one with jimping, by the request of the client.

Also, I made the mistake of not oiling a couple 8670 blades for transport, and so they need to be touched again on the fine satin finishing belt to remove a bit of surface rust (as the sheaths still had some moisture from being cleaned out before pressing the eyelets), but that's no big deal, and I'll take care of that next time I'm at the shop, which will be most likely tomorrow.

Hidden tang Khukuri requested by a customer, fully encapsulated tang with Suretouch™ scales and Micarta tang housing. The idea behind this handle is to be non-conductive, either heat or electricity. I do believe I am getting more comfortable with this style of handle.

I may have time to make one or two more items for tomorrow's sale. LC200N filet knife? AEB-L hidden tang karambit? AEB-L Boning Knife? AEB-L Barax Machete? AEB-L short sword? Hmmmm....

Also, I have announced a new AEB-L run. I have a local customer who just made a large purchase this morning, so I have reinvested in a sheet of 3/32" x 15" x 48". There is already a kitchen set on it, but there is room for lots of other stuff, anything from neckers and chefs knives to machetes.
