What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

Sometimes the hardest part is deciding handle configuration. Well today I had a young consultant in the shop and we allocated materials to the blades I ground yesterday. My hope is to have every knife I've started this week done before the end of next next, with the probble exception of the Damascus which will involve steps I've not practiced or set up for for yet.

I assembled and rough ground nine handles between yesterday and today. Plans changed a bit from the original mise en place, but not too much. Here are a few pics of the work in progress:

I don't own a knife over 10" at the moment, so I ground and assembled the Barax as well. It should be done next week along with these and a few others.

More progress on what I've gotten started:

"Finished" and sheathed the Barax though it still needs my maker's mark (but I'm no longer without a hiking machete, yay!)

And received a pile of knives in the mail to put sheaths on, which I started today as well.

I recorded a video of chopping down a tree with the Barax. While making ugly grimaces and wearing G10 covered shop clothes haha. And then I cut an apple in the air. I'm sure you'll find my lack of technique and method..... amusing. 🙃
