What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

Hand sanding handles today, dialing in ergos, and now I'm ready to sheath everything, sharpen and etch maker's mark tomorrow.

And a few extra pics of two more blades started by CDHumiston CDHumiston , and these ones received little if any design change from me.

Anyway the goal with getting these all done and out of the day is to hopefully cover my monthly expenses and buy myself time before month end and the New River Knife Works hawkbills arrive so I can plug away a bit more on the reblades I still owe back. And after that, the Damascus show pieces, which I am hoping to make my most visually stunning finishes to date. Better to work on this when I'm not feeling constrained.

Very Nice! Glad to see you make good use of that steel!

I will never claim to have done perfectly at anything. I do shoot for good. :)

Anyway, another beautiful Monday morning! Off to the grind after another attempt to reset those stubborn night owl habits. 😅

btw, 19c is considered cold weather down here.....😁

Thank you JB. :)

Short day in the shop today, as I touched up six knives that I thought were done, but after handling and sharpening, I realized one needed better ergos, one needed some texture to lighten the handle (desert ironwood is pretty heavy as hardwoods go) two needed a hit on the scotchbrite belts (as sharpening them by hand left snail trails near the tip), I could feel distinct fingernail catches on one with a composite handle between the spacers, so it needed to be re-sanded closer to flush, and my Barax needed a little more grip tweaking. All done. I think, anyway. Gonna unpack them and look them over again in the kitchen lighting.
