What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

Well, I found some scratches from previous grits today after getting up to 800 grit. So now I have at least one knife to back off to a coarser grit and work my way back up with. Frustrating.... So I put it aside again for now and worked on something else that didn't call for so many calories.... and finished up the test knife. I like this design.

I also finished up and sheathed the blue paring knife from a few posts ago, and got it in the hands of the family who ordered it.

Whoops, almost forgot to mention the regrind and new sheath I did as well today:

Hollow ground, and really thick behind the edge. Here you can see the original grind, and then the beginning of the regrind to convex, and how a hollow requires grinding up into the flats:

I cleaned out my edc backpack and disciveted i had been lax in checking it's integrity. My Barax was perhaps a few days or weeks from opening a couple holes on rent bottom. If the rush 72 came with hard plastic bottom support I long since discarded it for comfort. Now I need o make a new one. But the Barax is too big. I made it a chopper at 1/8" and 16" blade. The one I first made and lol I in love with was about 13" blade and 3/16" stock. The balance on that one between power and movement was perfect for me. I could have gotten good at swinging that's one. This one time too but I'm going to let it go and see what I learn from the 3/32" extra wide Barax I'm doing soon. Then maybe another is in my future that I can pack carry a little cozier

Well I'm blessed to have a very kind customer who has claimed the Barax and also asked for an edc knife that I can do with quick turn around. In fact im about half way done it already. Feeling grateful

Best part is it's then same gentleman awaiting the Damascus knives so I should be able to get it all done as shipped by the time my next batch of aebl comes in.

This design is great too, David. Some super stuff coming from your shop these days. :)

I kinda like that! What are the blade and handle lengths?

It's a bear to work with so I'll be keeping it to low grit finishes. And for a user knife that'sperfect anyway... in my opinion.

I have more. I'll save you some some.
Awesome. I’m not married to the blue micarta - it’s the blade itself that’s calling me. I think maybe a blue and black suretouch (or anything similar you got hanging around and don’t know what to do with) with those same pins would look suh-weeet.
