whats missing?

What?! No Manix 2? You must remedy this immediately! I recommend 4v or Cruwear

Man, those southards look awesome.
Its a good idea. I’ve looked into it already. I think cuscadi will make a micarta or lscf scale for it.
The brown certainly isn’t doing it any favors.
I think if I could get a g10 scale in a nice green or orange I may go that route.

I have a lot of different scales for mine, and I rotate them around. Wood, various flavors of CF, and other oddball materials too (e.g. Juma, C-Tek, etc.).

Two of the ones (python micarta and orange and black CF) in that photo I linked are actually liner-delete mods, where the presentation side liner has been removed altogether. There are a few on here that weren't in that last photo, IMO the wood scales are super classy looking on the knife:

I love my dragonfly2’s. Top 3 all time favorite. Hard to believe another small knife could take its crown but I’ll definitely look into it.
Size wise, they’re about the same?

I have maybe six or seven Dragonfly variants, including some jazzy ZDP-189 and whatnot. Compared to the Dragonfly 2 the Tuff Lite is a bit larger, the Mini Tuff Lite is a bit smaller. The Tuff Lite is cheaper, crappier looking, and has much worse fit and finish out of the box, but IMO it's altogether superior as a cutting tool--I so wildly prefer it to my small finger choil Spyderco knives (I have lots of them, Cats and Kopas and Dragonflys and more) that I've stopped carrying small spydies altogether, outside of a customized Cat wearing ivory paper micarta scales that is near and dear to my heart.

When I get a new Tuff Lite I have a five minute routine that makes the knife feel 100% nicer, which I highly recommend, consisting of:
  1. Disassemble it
  2. With a coarse sanding block, break the edges of the blade spine and blade finger choil (optionally the opening hole, though I leave those sharpish, usually)
  3. Break all the sharp edges on the plastic scales
Doing this makes a huge difference in how nice the knife feels in hand, at least it does to me.

I use them as my go-to spare knife, keeping them in my car, using them as travel knives, and basically littering my life with them.

I also whittle quite a bit as a hobby, and my primary whittling knife of choice is, you guessed it, the CS Tuff Lite. Yes, I know this is odd. Yes, I do own (over a dozen) dedicated, purpose built, high-end whittling fixed blade knives--I still prefer the Tuff Lite.

It's a cheap, tiny little knife, but it's strong as all heck and I know from experience--these little knives will take whatever beating you want to throw at them, including cutting wood with tons of force being put on them constantly.

I usually go fixed blade for anything heavy duty.
I’ve drooled over the tanto zaan for years. I’m just not gonna spend $500 for something my gb1 ( formerly your gb1) can deal with.
I almost bought a xm24 a few years ago. I didn’t and that pretty much ended my interest in hinderer until recently.
If I saw a user xm18 3.0 slicer ( skinny if that exists) for a decent price, I’d jump on that.
Yup i’m Also looking for a xm18,3in. I think you would enjoy it more for edc that the 3.5.

As stupid as it sounds I just don’t like the writing on the blade of those bullnose. It’s not a deal breaker tho.
Are all crooked rivers s30v?
I think they are.
I don't like the writing on the blade either. With a nice patina it can look good.

Yeah I understand about the writing on the blade. The crooked rivers are s30v. It has always served me well.

It’s served me ok too.
It’s just I can’t bet 30v back to really sharp as easy as other steels.
Plus I don’t find the razor sharp edge lasts very long.

That burlap or Kevlar looking southard scale is a beauty.
Super nice.
I’m 100% going to try a tuff lite.
Do you have a serrated one?
I may go that route.
I’ll try your 5min spit shine on it too.

So that mudbug seems like it’s just a bigger version of the bullnose, right?
Same maker, steel, handle material?
Unless I’m missing something, seems like an extra 1/2” of blade will cost you $60.
Plus no blade stamp.
Would fit and finish be similar?

Lol
I know, I know.
Love the Manix2.
I’m just so heavy on the spyderco in that size range.
If I sold my m390 pm2, is replace it with a manix2

Sorry buddy you lost me at sell the M390 PM2.... that's by far my favorite Spyderco! (I own several) kidding aside, you should definitely add a Manix sooner than later.

Around $100
Buck Marksman 20CV - not a great flipper but solid knife
Buck Vantage 20CV - cool lock, not for everyone
Cold Steel American Lawman - solid beater
Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter - solid beater

Around $200
Benchmade Proxy 20CV - not pretty but solid and great in hand
Benchmade Mini Crooked River - go custom shop

$400+
XM-18 GEN6 Skinny Slicer - I’ve been a Hinderer Hater for the better part of 2 years now. This changed my mind.
Spartan Harsey - Might lean too much to “nice knives”?
CRK Umnumzaan

I just looked, I can’t find those lionsteel for sale in Canada. I’m twitchy about shipping knives in with our gung ho border agents. Although that lionsteel would baron be ok.

You won’t find any of them for sale by dealers, but if you buy them through Collector Knives or through the exchange, I’d honestly be surprised if the border agents would stop them. They’re not “gravity knives”, though I understand the hesitation. You guys have it rough up there!

I’ll most likely never sell that m390 pm2.
It was a “grail” pm2 for a couple years.
They were tough to come by before that bento re-release.
If the right one comes along maybe.
Cruwear would be nice.

I’m totally out of the buck loop. I’ll check em out.
Been a bit of an anti cold steel snob lately, but I’ll try that tuff lite. I love the look of that 3v master hunter fix blade.
I’ll have to check em out again.
Proxy doesn’t really catch my eye.
I’m pretty sure a mini cr is on the radar.

Can you get a 3.0 skinny slicer?

3.0 and 3.5 skinny are the same blade thickness (so, no).

I saw them on that collector knives.
Are they legit?
Never heard of em.
