What's that you're eating?

Busted out the Dutch oven and shrimp boiler again, this time for some fried venison. Rate my setup...

The venison was from a doe that was born, lived, died, and was cooked within a 2 mile radius. Quite the cycle.

Rated A+ that looks fantastic ❤️👍

I remember you harvesting that doe and what a mouth watering delicacy she has provided for you. Well done brother 🍻

Looks like a great setup to me.

I love breaded venison! I'm not a big fan of venison in restaurants though. It's usually red deer from New Zealand and it doesn't have any of the gamey flavor that I love.

A few days worth of meals.

There is a steak under the bacon and onions somewhere.

And getting tonight’s dinner prepped now.

Some steaks. One ribeye and one NY strip.

And potatoes. Sliced thin with onions, butter and seasoning. Layered with some cheese, in the oven for about an hour. Will top with some cheese and brown when it’s time to eat.

Found some pink oyster mushrooms this morning at the farmers market. They were fantastic! Sautéed in some butter and a splash of white wine, they somehow taste like bacon!? IMG_1351.jpeg

Trying to dial in this potato recipe. Definitely getting better. Parmesan and mozzarella for the cheese on top tonight.

Found some golden oysters a month or so ago. One of my favorites.

Oysters are definitely delicious. I was shocked at the flavor change on these pinks when I added the wine to the pan. Instant bacon smoke.

It has been a little dry around here, but I am hoping we start seeing some good growth soon as we get deeper into summer. Typically get a good batch of chanterelles and black trumpets, but we haven’t seen any yet this year. We also had some really nice Chicken of the Woods and Cauliflower mushrooms last year. I keep checking those spots hoping for another crop.

I am eating peanut butter and It is a nutrient-dense snack with a high protein, as well as vitamins and minerals.

One heck of a fine and informative very first post A ahsanbhattics and welcome to the CPK hosted forum here at Bladeforums 🍻

Yep, Peanut Butter sure is a very versatile food, you’re not alone in enjoying its many benefits and fine flavor too 👍

The result of a local shopping trip today . . .

Freshly picked Suncrest Yellow Peaches & Heirloom Tomatoes from a local farm stand and Frozen Ha Gow (Shrimp Dumplings), Steamed BBQ Pork Buns (Cha Siu Bow) & Baked Egg Custard Tarts (Don Tot) from my local Chinese Dim Sum take out joint:

Already ate the buns & tarts. Put the dumplings in the freezer for later use because they require preparation.

And will leave the tomatoes & peaches on the counter to eat as they ripen. 😋

The wife’s been under-the-weather for a few days, and just in sort of a lazy snacking mood. Found a new brand of local bacon and decided to do a slow grill this morning, about 1.5 hrs, flavored with balsamic glaze and black pepper. The chicken marinated overnight in various Asian sauces, garlic, salt & pepper.

Bought 2 whole chickens for 78 cents/# but didn't have enough room in the freezer, so I decided to cook them both - 2 ways: poached & roasted -- at the same time. One on the stove top & the other in the oven

Cut the poached chicken Chinese-style into smaller pieces & the segmented the roasted chicken into the standard 6 pieces -- 2 legs, 2 wings & 2 breasts -- but 1 of the legs is missing because I ate it before I took the photo. LOL! ;)
