What's that you're eating?

The little tyrant asked for "pink nuggets," meaning fried salmon bites. I obliged but roasted them in the oven instead. Roasted corn medley with goat cheese, cous cous with herbs and vinaigrette, and tossed greens to accompany.

It was 103 outside today. So, being a certified genius, I decided to heat my oven to 425 for a few hours to bake a chicken pot pie. Brilliant.

The crust was the best part, if not a little sloppy. Pickled serranos made it all come together.

Fyi, if you're into cooking shows, a good friend of mine was just featured tonight on a Food Network competition called "Alex vs. America" (season 4, episode 4, "Alex vs. Mediterranean"):

My buddy, Raffi, is the Houstonite. We used to cook up all sorts of things in our youth, but he clearly had the better skills. Kinda wild seeing a friend on one of these shows.

Shameless plug: if you're ever in Houston, his restaurants are fantastic.

Catching up . . .

Lunch yesterday which included 8 Xiao Long Bao & a couple of bottles of YangJing Beer (that I've never had before but tastes just like TsingTao to me) plus a some small Sesame Seed Balls for desert:

And lunch today which included a Meat Eaters Pizza, a large green salad & a glass of Ghost Town IPA:

My take-out purchases this morning . . .

A small 5 piece bag of Filipino Starbread (that are already gone) that I purchased at my local Starbread shop:

And a 1# rope of Mexican chorizo that I bought at the Mexcian market, just a few doors down from the Starbread shop, some of which I plan to use to make some scrambled eggs w/chorizo tomorrow morning:
