My favorite bang for the buck hands down is the Southard. The Kershaw Groove, although discontinued, is an excellent choice as well. Take a look at some of pics and maybe something will strike your fancy. The DDR Gunhammer is a sweet piece as is the ZT 0400.

I really wish they still made the Groove. I love RJ Martin and it is the perfect size. Only one I can find is on the large auction site for $150 and that ain't gonna happen.

I like the first one as it looks nice. Actually I like them all but I stay away from coated blades or strange blade styles with alot of recurve or whatever its called as I wouldn't be able to sharpen it! :)

Added to my signature line....

My vote would go for the ZT0801 if you don't mind the weight. For a sub-$200 knife, it has a lot to offer: Elmax blade, LBS that's also a lock bar insert, and of course KVT. Now, if you don't mind going over the $200 bar, then go with a Southard and be happy. I prefer the weight and the blade steel of the Southard over 0801, but the ZT definitely flips better than the Southard.

another good company of blades to look at is the Brous flippers. I've owned two, Reloader and SS flipper. They are both excellent and they're midtech.

* No blades with big recurves as I couldnt sharpen them!
* Easy to maintain edge.
* Blade size - something between 3 and 3.5 inches.
* Easy flipping ability.
* Would like to be able to deep pocket carry.
* etc.

Buck Vantage meets all those requirements. Not sure what you mean by "etc." Even the $26 dollar Select model does. It requires a tune up and cleaning, then you're good to go. Flip till your fingers get sore.

The first is a Southard with a custom carbon fiber scale. The DDR Gunhammer comes with a traditional blade that is easily sharpened as well.

Yeah, I dont even know what I meant by "Etc." Just left it open in case I think of something else I guess! LOL

The Buck Vantage looks pretty good and very cheap! I will check it out in more depth. Thx.

EDIT: I see there is also a Buck Vantage TM Avid and a Buck Vantage TM Pro. Which one of the three should I look at?

Like everyone else mentioned, I love my Southard. But I would say for value, I would go for the Kershaw Skyline. Had mine for 3 years and flips as good as any other with bearings.

Just better blade material. The pro's blade is made of S30 just like some of the upper end knives!

Just so you know, there will be people who complain about quality control in the Vantage. About liner rub, blade centering, hard to flip, rattling, etc. I've purchased two selects, the large and the small, and they were free of these problems. They are easy to take apart, sand off rough edges, clean, lube, and re-assemble. Then you have a pretty smooth flipper.

Then there is this guy who posts in every vantage thread about how weak they are. I use mine as a knife, to cut stuff. It holds up fine. I don't use it as a prybar, a hammer, can opener, etc. If you want something to abuse, get something beefier, but I don't see the point in doing that.

Hey all, what your thoughts on the ZT 0566? I like it as it is just a little smaller than the 0560! Anyone have one? Good or bad comments?

I also love the 566. Probably a second favorite to the 801. Excellent knife excellent value you can't do wrong with either. They alternate being my edc

I did see some pics posting where the scales are not cut right to fit correctly! I think that was a Pro one.

Yeah, I like both of those but size wise the 566 looks very promising! :)

Spyderco Domino, flips alot better than My Southard and ZT 0560, and even better than My Curtiss F3........
