What's the BEST KNIFE DEAL You Ever Got?

A number of years ago, I bought a hand-made hollow-ground Greco MST MkII for about $50 when a local knife store was going out of business. It is somewhat anti-tactical in appearance, having orangish-yellowish micarta scales, and a light tan Sherry Lott sheath.

I've posted this pic before but I found this bolo at a flea market and paid 7 bucks for it. Blade is approx 9.5" 1/4 " thick with pinned water buffalo handles.
How much would you have expected to pay for it?

"I snagged a Delica 4 for 13.50$ + 5$ shipping off of Egay"
Thats a pretty good deal!

Best I got was a Spyderco Matriarch for $35. The guy that sold it told me it was a Civilian but when I got it, it was a Matriarch. It was on another forum. I was a little mad that it wasn't what I thought it was going to be but it was still a great deal. I have found most of my good deals on other forums.

The greatest deal I ever got was my first Khukri. Its an 18" WWII model from Himalayan Imports. It was $69.00, which was an incredible deal for such a fine piece of handmade forged goodness. The best part of the deal, though, was being introduced to the late Bill Martino and getting to know a bunch of the folks over at the HI forum, including Dan Koster, who did some custom work on an HI Bowie for me.

The best from a money perspective was probably a Ka-Bar black shorty for $13.00 which was a typo from the company, but they honored their deal (I knew it was a heck of a price when I ordered it, but did not realize it was a typo at the time).

I got a Fallkniven F1 for $84.00 CAD, with the shipping. Even though the it was $78.00 USD on there web site.

I got a Lone Wolf Tighe Tac for $110 when they were discontinued by Lone Wolf. MSRP was $280. Internet dealers in Germany sold them for $350 to $400. Not surprisingly, you can still find one for that price in Germany.

However, fit and finish of my Tighe Tac didn't live up to my initial expections. Reviews of this knife had been very positive and some even had compared the production version to the custom. This didn't apply to my knife. If it hadn't been a closeout item, I might have returned it.

Since returning it was not a possibility I had to accept the minor cosmetic imperfections of the knife. I'm glad I did. In the meantime I have used the knife frequently and it never let me down. If it had been as perfect a knife as some collectors initially reported I may never have found the heart to actually use it.

The best deals I've got from ebay are from miss-spelt names. An El-Mar for £20 new in box Osprey. Also a Spyderco with V8-10 steel....£10. If people make mistakes its up to you to spot them!!!!

Not the best deal ever, but I just bought a Large Ritter Griptilian for $91 shipped, like new. Can't wait...

A kid came to me with a bunch of cheap knives to sharpen, mostly pakistani crap. He had an old beat up kershaw folding hunter. The one with the black micarta handle and with the finger grooves and brass bolsters. My eyes lit up, and I asked him if he'd sell it to me. He asked how much I'd give him, and I told him "10 bucks and all your knives sharpened." Deal. The knife looked like a stick of dynamite had been strapped to it, and it looked like it had been sharpened with a brick. The lock had failed, and it was rough. I sent it back to Kershaw and they sent me a brand new knife.

I also found a Cold Steel Taipan while walking through a field one day.:p

Does anyone want to break the record and give me the best knife deal in history? :D

Best deals for me are from fleabay:

BM Skirmish Limited Ed NIB $109
PCC Barry Woods designed 983 with box and papers $51
Al Mar Osprey Apple Coral NIB $25

A few years back I paid $30 for a carbon-fiber Buck Odyssey. Not bad for a knife with an ATS-34 blade and nicely polished carbon fiber scales.

4 bucks at a junk shop.

My best deal would be the day I wandered into Walmart on the day they had marked down the Buck 110's in commemorative tins, but hadn't put any signs up yet. I was going to buy one at full price ($23) and when the girl rung me up she charged me $8.00 plus tax. When I realized they were this price I bought out their stock, which was 11 tins.

My second best deal was the CRKT S-2 for $25. I bought six. When they arrived and I saw how nice they were I tried to buy more but they were gone by then.

I picked up a brand new SOG PE II at a pawn shop for 40 bucks. The owner was relieved I bought it, said nobody wanted a "humongous folder." He even threw in 2 condura pouches for it, and a nice length of paracord for the lanyard hole.
