Whats the bigest knife you own and WHY?

Dozier KS-4 Elk Hunter, at 4.75" it is the largest size I can find use for and still carry comfortably.

This is the perfect size for camp chores and harder outdoor utility use IMO. Not chopping but I have a hatchet too.

(It's the one in the middle..;))

10" damascus bladed bowie/fighter by Bruce Evans.
This aint no chopper, it is a fast, big knife .
It truely feels like an extension of my arm.

Why?
Reach.
:D

Becker Magnum Camp. Got it for my birthday last year and absolutely love it.
Don't use it much, but as to why.......I just like it!:D

The Porcupine

Yep - the Becker MC is so very nice! Du har helt ret Pindsvin. My biggest knife (I think) is an Al Mar Small Pathfinder with a 10" blade. It has never been used and is strictly a collectors piece. I have several blades in the 9-10 inch range - some I have used, some not. The biggest user right now is a SOG Tigershark, the old model with the SK5 carbon steel blade. Many, many more big blades on the wish list.

Regards Jan

Here's the biggest one I own Robert:

Now, as for why?...

...

..

...why not?

go big....or go home... :D

Kabar 7" USMC knife. Why? It was early in my knife hobby when I just became interested. Back then the "fighting" knives was what piqued my fancy. It was the first "real" knife I bought, and I remember thinking that I'll never put such a fancy and expensive ($35) knife to use. Sigh...those innocent days.

This doesn't count, but the Livesay RCM. After that, it would be the LTC Kukri from CS, then the Trailmaster, then the Tim Britton Terminator 3.

Why the big knives? I'll answer that like I answered a fellow hunter this weekend when we went rabbit hunting and I had a Zambezi strapped to my leg and he asked why I carried it. I replied "because I can."

Another Kabar man. :D I felt the same way, such a beautiful knife to use (40 bucks) LOL

My biggest would probably be my HI BAS khukuri! A close second would be my Swamp Rat Battle Rat!

And if it would count, I'm soon to be the proud owner of a 28" Criswell Katana! :D

Here is my favorite " Big Knife " Except mine is random damascus

Great for Major Cutting , and not as heavy as you would expect

It's pretty much a tie between my 18" HI AK and my Mineral Mountain White River Bowie. Both are 18", but the AK is quite a bit more substantial in terms of weight. Why do I have them? Why not? I love big knives.

Wally Hayes double edged wakizashi [short sword] for self defence. Biggest camp knife is a Hayes 52100, which is about an inch ot two longer than a battle mistress. For chopping and admiring!

The biggest knife I own weighs about 4+lbs its blade is 1/2" thick - 3" wide and 9 1/2" long. Why do I own it, because Im f@#&ing stupid.

Just got my biggest bladed knife yesterday. A Becker BK9 Combat Bowie. Nine inches of of 0170-6C high carbon steel with black epoxy-powder coating. It weighs in at 18.25 ounces. The blade steel is almost a quarter of an inch thick. I got it to use down the lake to chop up kindling and just to have fun with.
