The title says it all. I'll go first.

The heaviest folder I carry weighs less than 3.0 ounces. I work in an office in Los Angeles. My knife tasks are limited to operations such as opening mail and boxes, removing shrink wrap, light food prep, etc. I don't like to advertise that I have a knife on me, so I carry my folders unclipped deep in my pocket. Any folder that weighs more than 3 ounces takes up too much pocket space. My current rotation consists of three William Henry knives, a Buck Mayo TNT, and a couple of customs from Rod Olson and Alan Davis. My next EDC purchase will be a large CRKT Eros.

Thanks for participating. :)

I prefer smaller and lighter (small insingo every day in the office), but on the weekends the GB goes in the pocket. Its the heaviest I'll carry, because its worth it :D

I carry a Fox/Citadel Deimos fairly regularly. I really don't notice the weight on folders if I'm wearing jeans or cargo pants. In scrubs or slacks I tend to dial it back to 3-5oz as anything over 5 gets cumbersome. I mostly cary larger folders as I have large hands and anything too small gets fairly uncomfortable if I do any extended cutting with it.

I'm in the same boat about needing to carry folders that are comfortable in my hand. I've decided not to buy any folder with a handle length under 4.0 inches. That obviously limits my choices when I restrict myself to knives that weigh less than 3 ounces. Small Sebenzas and Mnandis are out for me, unfortunately. But I'm comforted knowing that I can easily drive myself into bankruptcy by continuing to buy William Henry knives. ;)

Well I sometimes carry my zt0200 (i think about 7.8 ounce) but lately I'v been carrying my skyline and frn native (sub 3 ounce )

*edit*
I'm stupid.
I just realized what this thread was about....the main reason I carry my zt is sometimes when I'm doing some harder work I need something more comfortable and just down right bigger.

When I carry my lite stuff (skyline native opinel ect) I just need it to open letters cut fruit what ever......

Well my normal daily during the week on-person carry is a couple of very small knives. Boker Keycom folder and usually a Case slipjoint of some kind, Peanut or Texas Jack recently. Weekend or after work carry may include either a Spyderco Delica or a Kershaw Cryo. The Cryo tips the scales at a little over 4 oz so for the way the poll is worded, I went with under 5 oz.l

The "why" is because I own the Cryo and like it. :)

My Cyclone, which is 6.4 Oz IIRC.

I don't care one bit about the weight of my pocket knife - I stay away from large or bulky knives for the most part, but weight isn't something that bothers me.

My heaviest EDC is my ZT 303, which weighs in at around 8 oz. BUT it really doesn't feel heavy in the pocket (well not to me, YMMV). The weight has never bothered me, I really like that its thin so it lays flat in the pocket, and I think that helps it conceal its weight (it makes it less noticeable). I EDC my ZT 303 because I know it will handle whatever I throw at it, from cutting boxes and envelopes at home, to light construction tasks at work, and even defensive roles.

ZT 056X series, simply because it is the most amazing production folder I have ever laid hands on. Love at first flip...

No clue. I don't know the weight of any of my knives. I'm 6'8" and 320 lbs. I carry a knife, MT, flashlight, flashdrive, and 2 cells (one work. one personal) + usual wallet, keys, etc. I'm not too concerned with a several ounces one way or the other in the overall scheme of things. Either way, I look and stomp around like a sasquatch.

Btw, I usually carry a Delica4 FFG.

Well, WH's are one of the finest knives made, so you are drowning in high quality. WH has perfected the ZDP-189 blade over the years; fantastic edge retention.

I carry 3 - 4 oz knives such as Sebenzas and XM-18's, but for lightness, nothing beats a William Henry.

I used to carry a Fallkniven PXL weighing 6.2 oz for work but I decided to carry an Al Mar Nomad which is shorter, lighter yet just as sturdy and tight lockup. And yes, a SwissChamp acts as a backup for work.

ZT 561.
5.8 oz without pocket clip.
6 oz with pocket clip.

Tasks consist of:
Cardboard cutting
Opening packages
Carving wood
Cutting cables
Cutting fabric at times.

And honestly anything a knife should be used for, or if left without a choice: anything.

This poll is starting to shape up the way I thought it would. Obviously we're not going to get statistically significant results out of the 24 responses we've received so far, but I expected that there would be far fewer folks on my end of the spectrum (under 3 ounces) than the other end of the spectrum (over 6 ounces) and so far, that's been borne out.

Few things beat a William Henry, weight notwithstanding. As you know, they're superbly-built knives. And darn if they ain't purdy, too. :)

I carry my ZT0300 every day and it is well past 6oz. I admit, I don't NEED a 0300, but I take pride in knowing that when I do, I'll have it with me. Honestly I don't really feel it in my pocket and If i decide to go "Sheeple friendly" I'll go to my ZT0350 satin finish. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's still more than 6oz. Weight doesn't seem to bother me much, just how it feels in my hand when I do use it.
