Dugit out for a look. Not my favorite knife, but it was a Christmas gift, so it is cherished for that.

Clearly marked "SPYDERCO".and "8Cr 13MoV. Has a ~4" plane edged blade and is ~9" overall.

Nice, but to my cup of tea.

All i know is people on ebay are getting barbequed w these fakes; its an epidemic on there ! I saw a Cold Steel video addressing fakes, they are getting AD15's mailed to them with broken lockbars made of plastic. Companies like them,Benchmade And Spyderco can lose their reputation over these inferior clones.Im sure Benchmade and Spyderco have gotten alot of fakes sent to them, too for repair or replacement...

I've been seeing fakes marked Montana Knife Co now.....TF24s made from Chinese 9Cr13Mov, shipped from who knows where for under $100.....

Why don’t people just buy from legit authorized dealers?
I think most of these folks are just somewhat average folks who don't really know anything about knives. They're not aware of anything besides the biggest of name brands and maybe a few buzzwords. They're just looking for a good deal, and don't question what they see. And, it should be noted, good deals can be found from non-authorized dealers. That's not an impossible ask, you just have to be careful with what and how you buy. For me, I won't purchase big name brands off the bay if I don't know the seller. I will, however, purchase knives that simply aren't faked (like that nice Zieba S3 I found for a great deal a while back), or from sellers I trust, who I've worked with before.

I saw a ZT0006 on that river site that looked authentic to a T, but instead of being $300+, it was $50 lol. Benchmade copies are getting harder & harder to decipher. Spyderco's too.

I bought a BM Claymore tanto and a CLA from some site which went to great lengths to make it look like the goods were genuine. I should have realized the price was too good to be true. Both looked really well made. The Claymore fake would not lock until I tightened the pivot screw to where the action was binding and the spring could barely overcome the friction. I took it apart and reassembled it with no improvement. The CLA looks and works very well. There are some obvious differences from the genuine item mainly the black scales on the Magnacut version which only comes in OD Green. Texture of the scales is off and I'm not convinced they are G10. Both were not sharp out of the box, but took a good edge with very little effort. My guess is the blades are some cheap Chinese stainless both for cost and easy grinding.

There's also the fact that not all knives sold are sold as new by dealers. Many are sold as used, which kind of invalidates the whole "buy from an authorized dealer" thing.....Many knives are sold here on this forum in fact, sold as used, LNIB etc. If we only bought new from dealers, where would those people end up?

So it is likely that the Wave Alpha on e-Bay att $150 is not made by Leatherman then.

On Amazon they are over $200.

I think we've traveled far enough down this road...and know what we need to know to make the proper choices.

If in doubt, go to the source where and when you can, and buy from legitimate vendors. If buying from individuals, check their bona fides.

We are not going to hash out who's selling what on eBay or some spurious website and try to divine authenticity.
