whats the most you ever paid for a knife?

The thing is, for some people $1000 is not a huge amount for a really good knife (doctors, lawyers, plumbers), for others, it is an unimaginable amount to pay. But then, some people will blow $1000 at Vegas and shrug their shoulders.

I'm not rich, but I'll pay for a really good knife if I have the money. And can convince the wife it's an investment in our future :)

Exactly what I was thinking. So far the most I've spent is $800. Knife (and gear ) collecting is the only hobby I'm REALLY into. I'm not your average college guy: I don't spend tons of money on clothes, shoes, clubbing (the occasional house party is enough for me), etc. So, most of my extra money goes towards this great (and addicting) hobby. I also didn't just buy all my knives overnight. I own six high-end folders currently and almost all are the product of selling off/trading less expensive knives over the years.

I own nothing over $100(my Cold Steel Steel Tiger was I think $95 shipped, I think that's the most I've paid for a single knife), and aren't likely to own too many either. I don't need a super steel or high end knife for my daily uses(a Kershaw OSO Sweet or a Tenacious covers my needs just fine), so most of my collection is for fun/aesthetic purposes(part of the fun requires the knife to be still be functional, so I DO still require them to be real knives rather than replicas, fantasy knives, or pure display piece either). And for that reason, I'm not likely to buy a $600 knife, when I could use that same $600 to buy a half dozen $50 knives, a couple tomahawks, and several machetes.

$485, wood inlay Sebenza.
Looking forward to Blade show at the end of May. I am setting aside $100 / week and plan on spending every last cent.
Speaking only for myself, I regret buying so many lower end, sub $100 knives.
This was before I found Blade Forum and discovered some extremely talented and amazing knife makers whom I would much rather have spent money on.
