whats the most you ever paid for a knife?

it's not what we've spent, it's about what we're about to spend! i've spent $185, and will probably never go more than $350 or so and that's be a custom chopper machete big chunk of metal type thing...

I'm a bit embarrassed but the most I've ever is 50 bucks, I'm a fairly new collector, and it was for a Gerber Prodigy, which my cousin broke hunting, snapped the blade, I was shocked, that was my favorite knife too :'(

$330. For a NIB TiLT

$135ish for a Benchmade 943, but will be spending more one of these days for a 561 (probably a blem) and eventually a small sebenza.

The $700 I spent on a WH damascus was just eclipsed by the $1,000 I just spent on a Rockstead Higo.

I spent $550 or so on an RJ Martin Overkill that I traded for a Peter r custom that was worth a less than the Overkill.
I should have kept the Overkill and used it.......................

$750 for an XM-18 3.5" Slicer. Makes me sick cause these knifes are $385 from Hinderer, but you have to be Militiary/LEO/Fireman/EMT to order direct for that price or case him down at a show and hope you win a lottery to pay the direct price.

Last week, I saw a custom grind Hinderer go for $7500 on a forum auction. I was stunned....

Actually, I just realized that I have a custom one off Medford on order right now and that was $800.

Other than a BK9 and some SAK's, My only two knives are a large insingo sebenza with Micarta and a 3.5" spanto flipper XM18. You all know what those two go for on the secondary market and that is what I paid. I think a better question is how much am I saving by not buying any more knives that I won't carry anyway? I think if I can just stick with these two, the prices I paid are worth it:)

$1200 for a limited edition William Henry with a damascus blade, desert wood & gold inlay handle and a ruby thumb stub.

25$ for a Skyline Blem. There are a few I'm looking at that will get me up into that $30 area. Maybe I'll spring for a tenacious. lol I do have a $1000 or so WWII German Dagger, but I did not have to buy it.

Oh wait, I forgot, my 110 was $33. My other more expensive Bucks, I've had so long they were not expensive at the time. My Alpha was on some crazy coupon deal, so that is likely under my $25 threshold as well. I'm a cheap bastard.

. . . I was doing my best to stay on the sidewalk, not get lower . . . :)
Be safe.

Now that was funny! Not disparaging nor uppity, just right. Truth be told, I'm thinkin' 'Atmosphere's' comment was on the tip of nearly every members tongue, no pun intended.

Oh yeah.......$400+ on a custom hunter. Could have bought a whole elk for that, but what's the fun in that....?

The thing is, for some people $1000 is not a huge amount for a really good knife (doctors, lawyers, plumbers), for others, it is an unimaginable amount to pay. But then, some people will blow $1000 at Vegas and shrug their shoulders.

I'm not rich, but I'll pay for a really good knife if I have the money. And can convince the wife it's an investment in our future :)
