Whats the most you would spend on a knife?

That one is not mine, but mine looks exactly like it. I gave my 10 MP SLR digital camera and a telephoto lens to my niece for her trip to the Galapagos Islands as a graduation gift. I'll have another camera to snap some pics of my SBT compared to an RC-4 at some point in August.

I just spent the most I have ever spent on a single knife for my HEST at $139.95. I would spend more if I found a knife I couldn't pass by.

I just started making my own. I've got 2 ready to heat treat. I hope to be able to get to the level that I just want to keep everything I grind!

Damn was thinkin of getting a Sebenza after seeing Boats knife. Man those are expensive ass folders. Way out of my league. Bow down to you Chris Reeves fanatics too.

That wasn't my Sebenza. I had a large classic one, but it was too small for my tastes. I carry a Benchmade 610 RUKUS. Only about $280.00 with the optional wood and ivory micarta scales I bought with it.

It's a better knife than the Sebenza if one can handle the size. Blasphemy, I know, but I like the feel of the RUKUS and the action of the AXIS lock a lot better.

The most I've spent on one knife was approx. $450. It was a lg classic Sebenza with inlays.I carry & use it regularly.I don't buy knives to stare at or let sit in a safe.I could see myself spending up to $700 on a custom folder & carrying it daily.

Well for $150 you can get you a nice Titanium frame lock JYDII with SG2 blade, it was made by kershaw and getting harder to find by the week. The only change I would (and did) make is to get a nice lowriding clip made by STR.

I've never spent more than $80 on a knife. My most expensive knife is an RC4, but I got it for christmas. I dont have plans on ever spending more than $150 on a knife.

A little over $100 is the most I've spent so far on a single knife. I'd probably spend no more then $200.

People spend tens of thousands on cars that are worthless scrap metal in a few years. A knife can last several lifetimes. People spend their money on stuff they like.

Most I've spent on one knife was $400 for a Chris Reeves Micarta Inlay Small Classic Sebenza (S30V blade steel, Titanium handle w/ inlays). I had it about a year, decided to sell it and used the money to buy my RC-5, RC-6 & RAT Firesteel. :D

I collected benchmade knives for years, with the most I remember ever paying was around $150. Came across the RAT knives when they were still under Ontario and bought a RAT3 for around $80. Later on, Rat Cutlery started up and for awhile I went crazy buying at least one of all of their knives. However, for years I have wanted a Busse. So, not too long ago I sold off a few of the benchmades that I had and used the money to buy a Busse NMSFNO. I won't say the exact amount but it was over $300. The knife is absolutely fantastic, lives up to the hype and I plan to keep it for life (maybe pass it down to my son, unless he sticks me in a nursing home :)) but I personally don't know if I could buy another one that expensive again.

Well with all the knives I've purchased within my life so far I probably have well over $1k worth of knives.

The most I've spent so far for one knife would be $236 (+ shipping) for the ZT0302. The most I would spend on a knife would most likely be $500, anything beyond that price I better have an ultra steel or extremely rare knife. I plan on picking up an SnG so that'll probably be one of my most expensive knives I'll ever be purchasing.

 agree 100%, right off the show room cars loose thousands in value, sad isn't it? I agree knives/guns have better resale than cars. In the end, its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

This forum has some serious knife fanatic. Just whats the most you've spent on a single knife. (or the most wife will allow you to spend). Its crazy how people would spend 500+ on a single knife. And most people/ all people on this forum doesn't just get 1 knife they get the whole damn collection. This is how much i've spent: 200 on set of Alaskan knife, 120 SOG seal 2000, 150 rat rc-5, 140 HEST, 80 leatherman wave, 70 Izula, 50 spyderco native, and 40 on a hachet. thats about 850 dollars worth of steel and thats hurting my pockets already. some folks here spend that much on 1 knife. Well i guess if you got the money than you deserve the knife. I need to stay off this forum, its making me go crazy. i was just trying to get an EDC and ended up with a backpack full of knives. I bow down to all you knife folks especially the Busse group, money is no object when it comes to your knives.
it really depends on what i'm going to use the knife for. if i camped a lot or spent a lot of time in the field i'd go ahead and spend a decent chunk on a knife to make sure i'd have something that'd get the job done for me

I spent $500 on a knife once, though entirely for collection purposes. It's pretty much one of my only safe queens and I got it before I met my lady! :D This was back in the days when I actually had disposable income from time to time, and while I was reluctant to do so I knew I'd be itching for a knife that expensive to have as part of the collection. Now that I've broken the barrier once, the desire is totally cured and I have no intention to do it again unless I become independently wealthy.

$300 is my absolute max, and then it had better be pretty damn nice. Most typically I won't spend more than $150 these days. I just don't have the money, what with college and all, and I've discovered the love of low cost high value knives like RAT (at the upper end of my expense range) and Condor/Mora/Opinel/isolated knife models of a similar line. If you can't find a knife/edged tool capable of just about anything you throw at it for $150 or much much less then you aren't looking hard enough. ;)

Whats the most you would spend on a knife?

I don't know yet. :D

I'll put a placeholder in the draft of my obit, so the local paper can plug in the number when the time comes. ;)

So far, I haven't spent $200 for a single knife, FWIW. Working the trade blanket helps.

$200 + shipping seems to be a major psychological barrier to me. There are just so many great knives that can be had for between $100-200. I have about 20 blades or so in this range, so I guess I go for quantity even though I beg to differ to say any of them lack quality.

I am saving up for a $350 forged knife from a maker/friend of mine that will have scales made out of 85 year old walnut cut from my wife's grandfather's old lot. That will be about it though for the high priced knives I think. I'm getting pretty satisfied with the collection of users I have now.
