What's the point of a Sebenza?

I agree with the above. I love my sebbie and I do think it is worth the cost, but I will eventually sell mine. I have made a new rule that unless I can replace a knife if it is lost, stolen, or broken, I won't carry it. If something terrible were to happen to my Seb, I would not be able to afford a replacement for many months.

Plus, the more I use my military, the more I don't like the way the Seb carries, opens, or feels in my hand. These are becoming more important to me recently.

Same here. If I lost my Seb, it would be months before I could afford another. I'm actually getting back into slipjoints and simple folders which suit my needs perfectly without completely depleting my wallet. For any serious hard work that I would do (hunting, bushcrafting, camping, etc), I will use a fixed blade, machete, or axe.

I'll miss it, but I'm sure it will find a good home eventually. It's true though, I definitely could not afford to loose it. Loosing a 100 dollar knife would be a hard hit, but not nearly as hard as loosing a 400+ dollar knife.

Buy a belt pouch man!!!:D

lol, I would, but it's not my style and I feel like it wouldn't be enough insurance anyways. I have thought about a horizontal belt sheath for a folder, but if I got one, it would be used for a much less expensive knife.

Eh, I was just giving you a hard time.

In all honesty, i've never(knock on wood)lost a folder and I either have them clipped in my pocket or loose in my pocket....granted I am constantly checking to make sure they're still there...:p

To each their own:thumbup:

Agreed. Couldn't say it any better.

The point of the sebenza is to be a working knife that can double as a throwing knife only as a last resort when your life is in danger and your rape whistle has malfunctioned. It also functions as a prying tool as long as you only use the tip. Also when locked open the spine can be whacked against wood in order to split it. Use your sebenza in any of these intended roles and it will not fail. Now if you'll excuse me, my sebenza's handle needs sharpening. :D

I've have actually lost multiple cheap knives (some kind of pricey), cheap watches, sunglasses, etc.. So based on my experience, I am probably more safe toting a less expensive knife than the Sebenza. If mine doesn't sell soon, I'll take it as a sign to hold on to it for a while (in which case I will send it to CRK for a Spa treatment.

The point of a Sebenza is to have an outstanding life long companion to help you with your every day jobs.
You will have such if you take proper care of it.
While it's scary to think of losing it, mine's always in my pocket.
The knife fits and feels perfect in the hand.
The blade get's crazy sharp, holds a great edge, and sharpens up quick and easy.
I love the marks on the knife as it shows it's character and with every mark it gets the more you can tell it's cherished, loved, and used.
A knife is like a faithful friend. It's always there when you need it.
And even though over time it wears in, it's still beautiful.

I carry mine and use it like crazy. And it never fails me to be the most wonderful and beautiful knife I own, but to be the perfect best friend, by being there when I need it.
