What's the sharpest knife you ever owned?

Out of box would probably be my Helle Eggen knife. Right up there would also include my Muskrat Man Puukko, Kellam Wolverine, Skookum Bush Tool, NWA knives, and a couple Bark River knives (although other Barkies came quite dull.)

I did sharpen and strop my Mora #1 to where I was able to do a complete wet shave with it.

I did sharpen my David Farmer Pira (his personal one) where I could shave and halve hairs with it. This is the scariest sharp knife I own.

My S90V Para2 that I just bought off the exchange is the sharpest that I've ever been able to get a knife. Not by a large margin, but I was really surprised how well I was able to work S90V. As far as from the factory, I would say a carbon steel Mora was the sharpest out of the box. It was my first scandi ground blade. I don't know if it was a fluke or all Moras are that sharp. Very impressive.

Each of my Spyderco folders (Military/PM2 M390/Endura 4/and Sage 1 + 2) have arrived with superbly ground edges that match nearly all of my customs.
However, most of my customs are larger fixed blades.
My CRK Lg Micarta Insingo is also seriously sharp.
And surprise...my BM 51 actually came with a near-perfect edge...much more shallow than any other BM I've owned.
Having said all that, my sharpest knife is the S30V Military...and seems to stay that way with some love on the ol' strop.

Out if the box, a Microtech mini-socom, and a Mora 546G. That Mora impresses me more and more as I use it. Especially for a $10 knife.

Ban Tang did a mod for me on a Busse AD, and put one of his stupid sharp convex edge's on it. I've had, and still have alot of factory and customs knives, but have never seen one as sharp as his. I've been to Blade the past ten years, and have never even seen a knife there as sharp as his.

out of the box, both of my chinese blackjacks - grunt and anaconda - had the sharpest convex edges.

Sharpest from the factory was probably Spyderco. Sharpest from maker was Bill Siegle. But I get my knives screaming sharp by convexing them. The siegle was probably sharper than my edges cause he's a pro. But I've never handled a factory made blade I couldn't make sharper on my own.

Out of the box, probably this handmade (convex-edged) one from Kikuo Matsuda:

By far the sharpest I have had is the Skinner RichardJ made for me. It takes sharp to new levels.

The spay blade on my Case Medium Stockman, or my Mora. Both came retarded sharp (thats like 2 x sharper than hair whittling sharp).

My Condor Kukri is sharper out of the box than any of my knives ever were. Polished convex edge.
It's the only knife that I ever cut myself with while taking it out of the box. And I was very careful doing it. I swear that I only got near it and I started bleeding!
Never seen any other blade that came as sharp as this from the factory. I doubt that all Condors come this way, but this one was scary sharp.

I have a Moro Barong from the late 1800's that will cut to the touch. Pure evil!

my own sharpening...mora model_____
from a maker/dealer/store...GSO4 from Guy Seifred
(sorry if I spelled your name wrong Guy :o )

My RJ Martin Q36 is horrifying scary dangerously sharp, thats the sharpest knife I ever owned without any doubt.

you guys are great! and so are your knives. am busy googling each one of them right now. from what i gather:

1. short, skinners, neck and utility knives (not intended for hard use such as chopping, hard stabs)
2. custom-made, in short hand-sharpened. hmmmm... and i though computerized machinery can already sharpen an edge up to a single molecule. human dexterity still wins.
3. from the pictures, secondary bevels and rolled edges. no one does zero-sharpening.
4. nice mix of fixed blades and folders. question: doesn't a sheath tend to dull a fine edge?

my own sharpest was an FHM balisong with a labaha blade: thick spine with a deep full-height hollow grind. i zero-sharpened it on an oil stone and, as one experienced it, i cut myself a couple times without feeling it until i saw blood. now all labahas are easy to hone since it's just a matter of laying it flat on the stone but a really good blade comes out evil sharp and stays that way.

The sharpest I've ever owned is the ZT 0200 I got from GP Knives at the tail end of last year. The sharpest I've ever held was a BM/HK 14700 Auto. It was sharp enough that I didn't even feel the bone-deep cut it made in my finger when I dropped it. I only noticed the cut when I started gushing blood. I still feel bad about that stupid move.

Out of the box and after a stropping, nothing has been as sharp as my Spyderco Gayle Bradley but the Umnumzaan is right up there as well.
